County Fair

My oldest son and his wife came home for a few days. Last night we all went to the County Fair. I entered several things in the fair this year. To my surprise I won several blue ribbons plus a judges choice ribbon on my tree skirt. I was actually stunned when I saw the judges choice ribbon. My son took this and the other photos that have colored frames around them on his IPhone.
Here is a photo of the tree skirt. I finished it last Christmas just in time to use. The applique is done in wool.
I also won a first place ribbon for this quilt too. The photo taken with the IPhone was not very good so I just posted this one with out the ribbon hanging on it.
I also entered these items:

While exploring the barns we got to watch the sheep being judged. We checked out the cow barn. I forgot how big cows can be when you are standing right near them. We saw the chickens, rabbits, produce, the floral section and all the crafts.
It rained most of the time we were at the fair but it was okay because we don't ride the carnival rides. We spent most of time in the buildings.
We did eat too. I had a hot dog and we all shared a blooming onion. My DIL had to try the Crispy Creme hamburger. I had a bite and it was not good to me. She wasn't thrilled with it either but she had to give it a try. My husband always gets a bag of kettle corn. We also shared some homemade vanilla ice cream.
We spent three hours walking around the fairgrounds seeing all the sights. If you have never been to the fair you should attend at least one time. It is a fun experience.

With Passion,
Carrie P.

  3. CONGRATULATIONS CARRIE!!! Oh how awesome is that but I must say I'm not surprised - your work is simply stunning! I miss our state fair so much, my mom used to work at it in the craft building and we'd get in free. Until they closed the whole thing....argh. Be sure to frame your ribbons, with a pic of the wins!

  6. Well deserved. Congratulations. That tree skirt is absolutely gorgeous. Krispy Kreme burger sounds awful. I think Ohio is the home of the Krispy Kreme donut. Mr. Creations one year had to try a deep fried Twinkie. It was first and a last.

A funny... now that you've mentioned cows, my word verification for this comment is "moolik." Ha!
