I hope you all had a great Christmas! I did and I am ready to get back to my sewing room and back to blogging.

1. Choose three UFOs from your stash.
2.After you have chosen three UFOs do a blog post by the 4th of each month and fill in the link gadget on my blog which I will have added when I do my post.
3. Write a post by the 4th of the month showing and telling what you would like to accomplish
with those three UFOs. Finishing to completion is the goal for that month.
4. After you write the post come back and link it up to my blog post.
5. On the last day of the month I will do a post about what I accomplished. You can do the same. If you completely finish at least one of your UFOs you will be entered in a giveaway. Completely finished means a quilt has been quilted and bound or a different kind of project is ready to use.
6. I don't know exactly what the prizes will be yet but it will be from my sewing room because I am trying to "go simple/downsize."
7. You do not have to participate each month but the months that you do I would love for you to link up so that I and others can cheer you along.
This is going to be tough for me because if you follow my blog you know how I love to do all those great BOM that bloggers put out each year. I am already seeing some of them being talked about. I know Susan (no blog) who reads my blog will keep me straight!
I hope many of you will join me this year in finally finishing some projects we have started. Be watching for my post on January 1, 2013.

ReplyDeleteHI Carrie. So good to catch up with "long-lost" bloggers again. I am going to have to think on this one because I'm waiting to see if I find a "sew-a-long" or something of the kind. However - "if" a BOM from FQS means UFO (since I have been collecting a few months worth to do over the 2013, Then I'm in for sure. I just don't want to overstep being "just' BOMs.

What a cute button!!!! I'll play along if I'm not kicked out for the probably two projects during the year that I'll allow myself to start fresh. I've been hitting UFOs super hard for two calendar years, so sometimes I need a new reward. But when I do pull something new now, it's out of existing stash, so it's not entirely out of this programs parameters, is it? ;D
ReplyDeleteWe are thinking alike on this! I want to bust out UFOs and have quilts for me, to gift, or donate. I just want to finish! I did put 20 year old nine patches into a finished quilt top just before Christmas and just need to bast and quilt. BTW Id be willing to donate a charm pack to the cause!

ReplyDeleteGood for you to work on this UFO goal project. My quilt club has taken that for our theme for 2013 as well and we have made inventory of our projects and vowed to get at least a few of them finished. I am also going to try to do better on my blogging and reporting on my UFO progress. I'll be watching for yours!

ReplyDeleteHi Carrie. Glad you had a good Christmas and a relaxing break from blogging. You were missed! This sounds like a great idea. My son-in-law's mom passed away last month, and he brought me all of her UFO's in hopes that I could finish them up for him and the kids. Perhaps this is just the motivation I need!!
ReplyDeleteI have been making a lot of UFOs in 2012, so I will plan to work on mostly UFOs in 2013. I may only get one a month finished but that would be progress. Thanks for organizing this sew-a-long.

I think I'm understanding this. But I don't have to commit to working on JUST UFO's, right? I think I would like to do this to get at least a few things done. One a month would be great! I'll give it a try!

ReplyDeleteI'd love to join you but I have already set up my own linky party called "2013: the Year of the Finished Project"! So, you know what they say, great minds thin alike! I will be following along with great interest even though I won't be joining in. There's no way I could work on only UFOs for the year, my quilting group expects me to create new works in 2013 for the airing in 2014!

ReplyDeleteI'm not a blogger (because, I already spent too much time in blogland and NOT quilting!) so I think that disqualifies me BUT I can at least link my flickr account and it will help me to be accountable!! I love the idea but I am easily tempted... but I can sit here and see at least 20 tubs with UFOs that are in various stages of work. I would love for them to be moved along or done! This would be just the push I need, thank for you divine inspiration!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great concept, Carrie! I would even consider doing it without a prize! I'll do some checking through my 16 UFOs to see if any of them are doable. My problem is that I don't particularly like my UFOs anymore, now that my tastes in colors have dramatically changed. But I have hundreds of hours in them, so I can't bring myself to just give them away either. In any case, thanks for the great idea. That blog button is too darned cute!

ReplyDeleteSuch a geat goal. I will be following along and hopefully will finish a few of my own as well but I have too many new projects ready and waiting to commit. Maybe I will just make a personal commitment to finish 6 UFOs this year!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays to you and family. I also have this plan to finish as much as possible. But, for the past 11 years, I have a pledge to make at least 2 donation quilts a year. So, I have to start those. But; I will keep watching your blogs and will be finishing UFO's. Thanks for the inspiration.

ReplyDeleteI will be glad to post 3 UFO's each month and then not finish them! LOL I can at least post 3 and try for one. Or maybe try for 3 and finish all of them in one month when I have a break from shows. Another 20 shows this year and several guild programs. Can I at least say that I will come by and visit the blog each month?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to join in as I am planning on wiping out a few UFOs but I'm not sure that I can definitely say I won't be starting anything new... in fact now that Hop To It is (nearly) finished, my little group is starting another project...so I'm disqualified already I think! I will be following with great interest and working on those UFOs also!!

ReplyDeleteAfter 3½ years of managing a quilt shop and making samples, I bet I could find a year's worth of UFOs just in the piles on the floor in the sewing closet!

How unfinished does it need to be to qualify? IE, projects I've purchased fabric for or started planning but haven't actually started sewing yet?
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. Every year I set a goal to finish some UFOs. Sometimes I succeed, but most times I fizzle out. I'll have to spend some time tomorrow picking out the most doable projects.
ReplyDeleteWoo! That is a bold goal! I know myself though and there is no way I'll be able to get through a year without starting something sparkly and new. Ha! Maybe I can aim a little lower though and at least play along for a couple months.

ReplyDeleteI have a couple questions - the first someone else has asked: is it NO new projects for the next year? And my second one - I post 3 projects to complete; once I complete one, can I add a new one the next month (like: I commit to A B C then finish B in January, in February can I post A C D?)or should I look to UFOs that will take most of the year to complete, no new entries?

I'm all about finishing UFOs in 2013, but can't commit to no new starts (one of my big motivators is that I get a new project start after 10 UFO finishes) but I'll be following along.

ReplyDeleteI start to have a lot of UFOs since I start to learn quilting in 2011. I don't think I can finish three UFOs in a month. I will follow along and will give a try to work on one a month finished. Your button looks great!
