I love those applique pins, they are one thing that I can say have made applique less painful for me. LOL. They dont poke me and they do not distort. The work great for wool also. I will try the needles.

ReplyDeleteI just found your blog last week and have been back already numerous times to read your blog through. I love applique and wished I had more patience to do this. I love the blocks you share of your students.
I started this week with the Bunny Hill BOM and am trying my skills again at applique. My hopes are, I will get faster. Thanks for the tutorials you've given. I did try the freezer paper technique this week. I find it a little hard to remove the freezer paper afterwords. Is there a special technique for that or do I need to try a better pair of tweezers?
I wished there was someone here who taught applique. I bought the Aunt Millie's garden last summer.

Two of my favs, as well. I use sharps for all my hand sewing. Perfect size.
ReplyDeleteI love those little pins...don't have to worry about the thread getting caught. I love 11 sharps too...they're easy enough to thread, short and heavy enough to help needleturn...but not too short.

ReplyDeleteI finally got to your blog, have worked at S.O. the last 3 days and have to work the Souper Bowl Party. I do love helping out there, mainly because I get to see so many people that I don't get to see otherwise. I sat down at this computer 2 hours ago and now have read ALL of your blog posts....very interesting, I love all your work. I have seen some of it at the LQS,so wasn't surprised how beautiful it all is.

ReplyDeleteQuestion, Carrie? Is the Millie's Garden project available to purchase as a pattern only or does one have to subscribe to a BOM?
I love those applique pins. They are the perfect size. I got a new applique glue - I was hesitant to use it but on small things like the handle to the teapot or a basket handle with rick rack, it is perfect. Good tools!

ReplyDeleteI am going to have to look for those pins and needles...I have some applique' pins but they are hard to grab onto...those look like they'd be easier to manipulate!

I love your Aunt Millie's blocks. I always use John James needles, too. Lately I have been using Sewline glue for applique, and I like it better than pins.

Black/Gold needles both applique and betweens, could not believe how wonderful they are plus you can use the large threader easy even with size 12, if you try them you are hooked.
