Our local shop had the $5 BOM this morning and I just got home so I thought I would show the fabrics that we received. I am going to wash the fabrics by hand to make sure that none of the run. That would not be good.

One of the ladies that was in the group brought me a bag of selvages. She also machine quilted my Patriotic quilt.
She is new to blogging. Go over and say hi.

I have two sections of my #6 UFO done. This applique is so easy compared to Aunt Millie's Garden. Don't get me wrong, I love doing AMG but sometimes you just want some instant gratification and this does it for me.

When you look at the pieced blocks remember, I was a new quilter and my fabric choices were pretty interesting. I wanted it to be scrappy so I was using the fabric that has the pansies on it as a focal fabric.

Well, I am off to wash fabric and get some sewing done. Until next time.

I'm still doing the machine applique, but your blocks make me want to do the hand applique.

I always pre-wash by hand, and find that a lot of reds usually do bleed. Purple too!
ReplyDeleteInterested in seeing what you will be doing with the selvages...
Carrie, I love the colors of your $5.00 B.O.M. I've always wanted to do a quilt in black and red!
ReplyDeleteWill it be a pieced or applique quilt? Can't wait to see more of it.

ReplyDeleteI have discovered a wonderful product to use when you're afraid of dyes bleeding out of your fabrics. Hopefully this link will post for you. Buy them at the grocery store and your trouble are over!

I always love your UFO posts...it reminds me to think about mine! And I wish I had washed fabric from a few BOM quilts...now I'm afraid to ever wash them since I'm sure the fabrics will run! Also...has there ever been a UFO you decided you never wanted to finish...I have one of those and feel so guilty!
ReplyDeleteI think your UFO is delightful and I can't wait to see it completed.
ReplyDeleteGreat fabrics for the $5 BOM - pretty.
