Pat Sloan Visits!

It was an exciting night for our guild to have Pat Sloan as our guest speaker. She shared a trunk show of some really great quilts that she has made. She also shared how she has progressed through her quilting career. The fabulous quilt behind her is hand applique.
Her husband, Greg, came also. He would hang the quilts as Pat shared with us. He hung all the quilts in perfect order. Maybe one or two upside down but he did a great job. Here he defending himself.
Here are some more of her beautiful quilts. She now does them in machine applique which means she can make lots more quilts. She brought several of her newest books which you can see here.

Yesterday I took her machine applique class which was a lot of fun. I have done machine applique but going to a class always brings new helpful information that makes the technique a whole lot easier.
Pat has pictures up on her blog already of our class, so check it out sometime. I worked on a tablerunner/wall hanging. I will show it as soon as I get it done. I just need to make the stems and then sew it all down. Pat is a great teacher, very friendly, and of course very talented.
Thanks Pat and Greg for taking time out of your busy schedule to come to our guild.

With Passion,
Carrie P.

  22. Carrie,
I'm jealous! I'd love to take a class with Pat. Which do you prefer to do-hand or machine applique? As I get older, I'm thinking I'd better practice more on the machine!
Can't wait to see your class project.
