Yes, I have joined the bandwagon to make a Dresden Plate quilt. When I got the DS fabric from Stephanie I decided it was time. I started cutting out using this ruler.
One thing I will tell you about the wooden thing that comes with the package. Notice it is not very pointy and it will not work. So if you buy one of these packages make sure you look at that wooden point. I have one of these rulers and another wooden gadget with the tip that is very pointy which I used. For some reason I found the wood thing but not the ruler so I had to buy another one. I think you could sand it down if it was not as pointy as you would like or use something else to get the point the way you want it.

I am making 8" Dresdens. I am not using a quilt pattern but I have an idea how I want to make this quilt. I am going to put these Dresdens on some DS goldish/yellowish background fabric and I will use the same fabric for the centers. I need a couple more of the DS fabrics to complete these. So I will be on the look out for something to go with these, hopefully some more DS fabrics. This is not sewn together yet.Thanks Stephanie for getting me started. Hurray! You've joined in. I'm planning on doing lots of dresden plate chain peicing this weekend. I see you are using the DS fabric! Every day I wake up and think I should just go to Joanns and buy it, and end up talking myself out of it. But then I see how terrific it looks and now in your dresden plate. Ooooh the temptation.

LOVE it! I don't use the pointy wooden thing. I use my "purple thang." My dresden ruler didn't come with one. There is only one other DS fabric and I haven't been able to find it. These are going to be beautiful on the yellow.
Your Dresdens are looking VERY pretty! Your post reminded me that I have a box of "blades" abandoned in my closet. I'm going to watch your progress on these closely.
Perhaps I'll be motivated to jump on the Dresden band wagon too!

Oh... that is a quilt on my to do list some day! Blackbird design had a Dresden plate pattern sheet that was design with one of their Moda line of fabrics. Thanks for sharing!

It always amazes me thinking of women making dresdens 50 years ago or more. They used scissors! The template is one of my favorites.
I like Dresden plates, a good way to use scraps. I really could use making a few more. Pretty, pretty!
What a happy way to use those DS fabrics! Someday, I hope to make a Dresden quilt too. It is such a wonderful pattern.
