Sewing Up a "Snow"storm

Wednesday night we got more snow! When we woke up in the morning we had 5 inches on the ground. Mr. P. took this photo of our blueberry plants all covered in snow. 

 I did not watch my grandson Thursday so I spent the day sewing!

 I cut and sewed the February block for my Modern Quilt therapy group. Here is the January and February blocks together.

I got the binding and backing made for my daughter's seashell quilt. (see previous post)

 I also cut and sewed these five blocks for a tablerunner from a pattern by Sherri of Aquiltinglife.com.

I am giving this and the seashell quilt to my daughter for her birthday which is in March. I am going to get this quilted this weekend.

I love this kind of snow which coats everything like frosting. 

 Most of it has melted.

 It was beautiful while it lasted.

Snow Day

We woke up to 2 inches of snow even though the weatherman said a dusting! Because of where I live it was to hard for my son to bring my grandson over for me to watch... so guess what grandma did?

I got the rest of the blocks sewn. As you can see I was able to sew the sashing and border together too. These block patterns were from Jacquelynne Steves free BOM. This small quilt will be for my daughter.

I will be going to my son's house tomorrow but we are supposed to get 4-6 inches of snow beginning tomorrow night. I doubt I will be watching my grandson Thursday or Friday so you know what that means?! I will be in my sewing room again.

Making Progress

Well, my routine has been changed again. I am watching my grandson 5 days a week again. The girl that was watching him 2 days got a job. I am not complaining but watching him doesn't leave much time to sew during the week. So I guess my routine will include sewing on the weekends. He is taking a nap at the moment. Usually when he is taking a nap I am taking care of household duties which I should be doing. But I thought I would share what I got to sew this Sunday.

 I made some more progress on Sew Sweet Simplicity blocks.

 I also got some applique pieces prepped.

I figured I better get this block done because the $5 dollar BOM group meets next week at my local quilt shop. I really like this block. ( from Eleanor Burns book, Quilts from El's Kitchen)

Now I am going to go through my email. Don't have much time to do that or look at blogs either. We all go through different seasons in our lives and this is a new one for me.

Progress

Oh, the perils of wintertime. I am getting over an illness that I got from my grandson. While I was taking care of him 1 1/2 weeks ago he was running a fever. Poor thing! Two days later I got what he had which put me out of commission for a while. I spent three days in my chair wrapped up in my rag quilt.

As I began to feel better I worked on this mystery crochet along from Look at what I made.

I finished appliqueing this block from a sew along on Jeni's blog from the Willow.

Then I began to feel like getting out of my chair and cut out pieces for this sew along from JacqulynneSteves.com

 Modern Quilt Therapy is meeting again this year. I missed the first meeting. We are doing another BOM. This is my version of the first block.

 This is the next block I will make.

 Back to normal with just a few sniffles. I plan to work on sewing some blocks today. I hope this is the last time I get sick this year!

Wooly Goodness

 The last two weeks have been topsy turvy but I have managed to do a little bit of sewing on some wonderful wool patterns. This first photo isn't wool but the flannel fabrics are called wooly flannels and look like wool. My final Bertie's BOM is finished.

 I have joined another wool BOM hosted by Buttermilk Basin. This is the first block. You can join in too.

 I finished two more blocks from a sew along on Jeni's blog from the Willow. These blocks feature wool and cotton fabrics.

 Last Friday I attended a vendor show in Statesville, North Carolina where used to live for ten years.  I bought some more wool most of which came from Shakerwood Woolens.  The three pieces on the right came from two other vendors. The bright pieces of wool are for a class I signed up for on Craftsy.com. It is an embroidery class taught by Sue Spargo.  I hope to start the little butterfly wallhanging soon.
