Preparations

I have been busy preparing for Christmas.
I decided to put all my vintage Christmas ornaments in the wooden bowl Mr. P. made for me last Christmas instead of on the tree this year. I think they look very special in the bowl.
Yesterday Mr. P. and I went to the mountains to pick out our tree.  It is all decorated and it looks so pretty all lit up with tiny white lights. This photo is some of the trees at the farm.
Along the way to the Christmas tree farm I spotted three barn blocks.
I have also had the binding prepared for this quilt. Half of the binding is sewn on. This was a free embroidery sew along from Clover and Violet.
I had my friend Laura do the quilting on this one. She does this fabulous work on her home sewing machine.
Laura used variegated thread even though it is hard to tell in the photo. Look at the little meandering she did in the white part of the blocks.
Thanks Laura for doing fabulous job on my quilt. You should go by her blog and see the latest quilts she has done.
One day I would also like to prepare fabrics to make this quilt one day. I won this book in a giveaway on Sinta's blog. It has some really pretty quilts in it but this one on the cover is my favorite. Thanks Sinta!
I am also busy preparing for other things that are going to take me away from blogging for a while. I hope to be back after Christmas. I wish you all Christmas Blessings!
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

With Passion,
Carrie P.

The vintage ornaments in your special bowl look like they belong there. Later.

I have a similar wooden bowl of ornaments going on. The difference being my bowl is round, and the ornaments aren't vintage, they are just the ornaments that my puppies keep knocking off the tree when they go to the window barking. I can't find the tops of the ornaments and the hooks. They are in the tree somewhere. I just put them in a wooden bowl and figure I will find the tops when I take the tree down. Until then, they are a different kind of decoration.

I love what you did with the bowl, Carrie! Your photo collage of the barn blocks is wonderful as is the gorgeous quilt! Laura is a whiz on her home sewing machine! We'll miss you while you're away. Wishing you and your family the best!

We also have a "live" Christmas tree but given that it"s summer (and it was over 100* during the weekend) we buy it as late as possible. This year that will be 15 December because we are hosting WM's family party on 16th!

Your quilt looks fabulous.

Have a blessed Christmas -- see you in the New Year.

Carrie I'm going to miss your posts but I hope that all is well and that you return refreshed and ready to stitch. Your quilt is wonderful - as is the look of your Christmas balls in the bowl. I put some of mine in a wooden tool box on my coffee table this year and it lights up that piece of the room. :) Merry Christmas - may God give you great blessings in the new year. blessings, marlene

I recognize two of those barn blocks! You were less than a mile from our cabin! We hope to start decorating this week and with I love the idea of ornaments in a bowl...may have to try that.

The quilt is great. Isn't it so true that quilting can add so much. I love the ornaments together. I do that too. Yours are fantastic. I am so jealous of the one saying "silent night". With my granddaughters living with us, I won't risk my vintage ornaments on the tree.

The ornaments look so pretty in the bowl. Tim and I have the flu and I don't feel like decorating. It's depressing. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas full of the true meaning of our Lord's love for us.
