I have been busy the last two days. Yesterday I did my Christmas shopping. Today I am beginning to bake Christmas cookies for the kids.
Has anyone ever made Biscotti? It is my first time. As I was cutting into the first baked section of the Biscotti into slices parts started to break off. I did use a serrated knife to cut the pieces. So needless to say not all of the pieces look pretty like you would buy in the store. Plus when I started to turn the Biscotti during the second baking some started to fall apart. I think the temperature might be to high(350*) for the second baking because some of it is burning. I turned the oven down to 300* so the Biscotti would dry out and get crunchy like it is supposed to.
Can anyone give me any tips?

Just a suggestion on the biscotti... I've never made it but do know it's a process... I was having trouble baking everything in my oven, so I bought an oven thermometer to put on the rack to check accuracy. As luck would be... ovens lose accuracy on calibrations over time (mine is 13 yrs old) and when mine was set to 350, it was actually at 325... I needed to set it to 365 to get it to be 350... and cakes baked so much better! Hope this helps....

Ok we all know my oven died so I was cooking in a toaster oven for the holiday. I have a new to me gas range and have only use the oven to bake pork chops so far. I need to wander into the cookie making arena soon.
Many years ago I made Chocolate Anise Biscotti. YUM. Don't remember a thing about the process and haven't made it since. No particular reason either. I'm no help! :o) Someone is going to squeal over receiving vintage holiday fabric!!!
Hi Carrie! I've missed out on blogging recently...it's good to catch up! I have made a good biscotti from .rachael Ray. I will try to find the recipe for you. It is chocolate chip. Perhaps your oven cooks hotter and is making them crumble?

I made biscotti a couple of years ago and they were very crumbly, but as they were for family and friends, I didn't mind.
I have so many UFOs you'd think I had some I could post about, but time is of the essence today, so I'll just let you know here. I'm pushing to finish part 4 of my Love Entwined - then I'll just be 4 parts behind - LOL. That's the only goal for this busy month.
Carrie, I LOVE those blocks you're working on for your Modern Quilting group. The ones you've done up in solids that looks like stars with little 9-patches inside. Does that block have a name?
I'm not much of a cook - but I love your pretty blocks! Good luck with your goals.
