Oven Mitts

My first block is done of the Sew Kitschy blocks designed by Kristy. The fabrics were fun to pick out. I mentioned in my last post that I have done very little paper piecing. It showed too. I cut some of the fabric that shouldn't have been cut. I also had one piece too small so I had to take that out and start over. This was the easiest block according to Kristy so hopefully by the time I get to the hardest one I will be a pro!

With Passion,
Carrie P.

I haven't done a lot of paper piecing, but it's kind of difficult for me to get into the mindset. It's like I have to think backwards. LOL! Good luck!

Cute blocks. Love your fabric choices. I do not like to do paper piecing, Sam I Am!

Your block looks great! Paper piecing definitely gets easier with practice ;)

You have done a brilliant job! And yes, it will get easier, promise. I had never paper pieced and I joined in the And Sew On that Kristy ran last year, I completed all 9 blocks in the time frame and it got a LOT easier.

What a great block!
Practice definitely improves the knack of paper piecing... you'll be a pro at it in no time.

Cute block. I will paper piece but I hate the waste, and I am really not good at the odd angles. I keep reading different tips and techniques. Still not great at it.

Happy New Year to you and yours!
Your block is looking great and fun and paper piecing is fun too. I have done some, always love it, but still I make mistakes by cutting pieces too small - lol!

Your block looks great! I think it's pretty easy to pick up paper piecing -- you'll definitely be a pro at it by the end of the BOM!

Very nice. I love how you are 'expanding your horizons' and trying so many (almost) new things. With foundation piecing, you just have to be very patient and work slowly and deliberately! Can't wait to see the next block. Job well done!

How cute, Carrie! Once I got the hang of paper piecing it was step on the gas and get outta the way ;>)
Cheers!

I know what you mean. I cut several pieces too small for my first paper pieced block, a star block -- but I was nevertheless impressed by the sharp, skinny, right-on-the-money star points. So I'm determined to keep at it!

Paper piecing is about the only kind I can do to make the points look good. Speaking of oven mitts, I need to make some real ones. Mine are so old and nasty.
