Thank you all for your very sweet comments about my new grandson. We went by to see him last night now that he is home. I changed my first diaper in years! Even though my kids weighed about the same as he does when they were born Damien seems so tiny. He is so sweet! I am going to try to get to all your comments today.
Let's get on to some applique. I am actually doing some. It really has been a long time since I have done any. Here is what I am working on. These two sided hearts are for a block I am working on for a BOM. I have never made this block in all the years I have been quilting. Stayed tuned to see which one it is.
I am also trying to catch up on my Bertie BOM.
I am also prepping some diamonds for my Soupcon block. All the instructions have been given out. I am two borders behind but my goal is to get #5 border done this week. I am using the templar and starch method. I have some tutorials on my side bar if you are new to applique or to this technique.
Two weeks ago the applique addicts met to work and show off their creations. Bonnie is working on this lovely flower from the Country Inn book. I just love her background fabrics.

Congratulations on the new grandbaby!!! Your quilting group looks like it is working on some wonderful projects. I recognized two of the project there as things I have made! Thanks for sharing and congrats again.
Wow! Such a lovely show-n-tell today! All those gorgeous applique projects :) Aren't the Bertie's fun??? I smiled at your comment that Damien seems smaller than your babies were - I had the same reaction when I saw my first grandchild. It had been so long, I really had forgotten how tiny they could be. Of course, my last grandchild was almost 10 pounds at birth, so he's never been tiny :*)
Congratulations on the baby. Wait till they are driving you around!!(Just a little scarey.) I love that fabric Patti used for a border, that one with the leaves. Loved all the pics, thanx for sharing. L
I love applique show and tell -- especially since I love applique but don't love doing it! Lots of pretties. Ew...diapers. I always swore my kids would come 2 years old and potty trained so I wouldn't have to do diapers. :o) Obviously that did NOT happen!

Sew many lovely projects. Aren't grandbabies the best? What is the best about being a grandma nearby you get to share and you will cherish it greatly. I am so much more appreciative of my grands.

It's true-- newborns are just so small! It wasn't that long ago for me, and I see my friends' babies and my mind is blown. So sweet and tiny! :) I'm glad someone can wax a little nostalgic for diapers. I sure don't! Not sure when that's gonna happen for me. :P
Your Bertie quilts are so fun! And it is always a treat seeing what your applique group is up to. I recently started an applique project from that same Edyta Sitar book-- but I'm doing it needleturn. Not sure what I was thinking there (especially since it has been awhile since I've done any!), but I am persevering. :)
Between baby and remodeling I can only imagine how nice it must be to sew, sew , sew again, Carrie!
