"Quilty Stuff"

On our way to my in laws house Mr. P. and I decided to break up the long drive by stopping at the John C. Campbell Folk school. They were holding their annual craft show. One day we are going to take some classes here.

 I was happy to see this barn block hanging up on the outside of their quilting classroom.

 There was a big barn which we found these quilts hanging from the rafters. The building was full of craftsmen selling their wares.

 This year there was a small quilt show. Here are a few of them

 This quilt was pretty cool because the heron was on both sides of the quilt.

 As we walked around seeing the hundreds of craft vendors we noticed these two jack o' lanterns.

 A fun photo for you. Driving down the highway we drove up to this truck with a goat in the back. We wondered where he was being taken. Maybe to the county fair?

Home Again! Jiggity Jig!

Mr. P. and I are home again from a vacation trip. As you know when you come home from vacation there is always so much to do. One thing I had to do was go out to check the garden. Here is the harvest. In the foreground you can see my first and only pumpkin. When I checked it the pumpkin popped right off the stem. I hope that is okay because all the pumpkins I ever see have stems on them. Oh, and by the way, you might remember that I mentioned putting a panty hose over the pumpkin, well, it doesn't work. I had another small pumpkin where some little insect has been boring right through the panty hose into the pumpkin. I am going to have to figure out something else to keep them out next year. I am grateful for my first pumpkin ever!

 Were you wondering where Mr. P. and I went for vacation? We went to visit my in-laws who live near St. Louis, Illinois. We also went to Knoxville, Illinois to visit a friend of mine who used to live near me several years ago. Here we are at the St. Louis arch. With the government shut down we were not able to go inside the museum or the arch. But we had been there many years ago so we weren't too disappointed.

I will share some "quilty" highlights from my trip next post.

For the Love of Hand Embroidery

Confetti

As quilters we make a lot of quilts over the years. Do you ever make one and say to yourself, "This is my favorite quilt!"? I have with the newest quilt I made. You see I sometimes test patterns for Stephanie of Loft Creations. This quilt pattern is called Confetti. I had the privilege of testing this pattern recently.  I will admit that I pretty much copied Stephanie's because I just thought it was so cute.

Last year I participated in a 10"square low volume fabric swap. I had been saving these fabrics for just the right pattern. As you can see this was just the right pattern. Didn't Stephanie create a fun pattern?

Here are some close ups of some of the fun fabrics I got in the exchange. Others were given to me and others were in my stash.

This one is really not considered a low volume fabric. If you scroll back up to the finished quilt you will see that I put it in the right hand corner. This fabric is one I bought when Mr. P. and I took a road to trip California in 2012. When I see this fabric it brings back memories of the best trip ever.

I'm Free Motion Quilting

I thought it was time to do the quilting on my hexagon table runner. I visited my friend Laura's pinterest quilting boards. She has some fantastic pins. I drew some hexagons and filled them in with some designs I liked and thought I could do.

It is a little hard to tell but you can see what pattern I chose to do in my hexagons. This pattern was fun to do.

This hexagon table runner was from a summer sew along from Doreen.
