Is it Fall?

No, it really is spring. I have just finished two projects that I will have ready to hang for next fall. I bought the table stand from Fons and Porter. It holds a 12" square quilt. If you go to www.ackfeldwire.com you will be able to see all that the company makes. They make some really neat headers that you can add to the stand. Check out their catalog for all kinds of other hangers too.
I would like to introduce a new blogger to you all. Her name is Mandy and she has been reading my blog for several years now and I have featured her Aunt Millie Garden blocks on my blog in the past. She has her own blog now so when you have a minute go over and say hi and welcome her to blogland.

Seven days in a Week

All finished. They were fun to make and trim each one differently.
My plan is to teach these towels in classes at Karen Gray's shop. It will be fun. Think of all the possibilities of fabrics you could use on each towel. Or just leave them plain like the original patterns. If you would like to embroider your own towels you can get the patterns from the Embroidery Companion by Alicia Paulson.

Applique Group Show and Tell

Well I am caught up with getting things done so here is the show and tell I promised you. Here are all the Hop To It blocks from all the ladies in the group. Click on the picture to enlarge it and look closer at the blocks. All are different and beautiful!
I always look forward to meeting with these ladies and we have the best time together.

Look what Linda has been working on this past year. The Snowbound BOM from Bunny Tales. Linda is still had some embellishments to add to the top. So cute.
Here is a block from a book called Southern Album made by Carol.I had some photos of blocks done by Virginia and deleted them accidentally from my camera card. Sorry Virginia.
Paula made a signature quilt for her son who got married last October. Great design.
Kathleen, our fabulous facilitator, made this wool quilt. Isn't it so pretty with that big floral fabric in the background?
Kathleen has been hand quilting this quilt of hers. She does such great work.

Busy!

I just wanted to let you know that I will be off the computer for a few days. My long arm quilter told me she was ready for this quilt. And I still have some rows to finish before I can get it to her.
I am also going to be teaching my Sweet Treat bag next week so I need to get kits ready for the students.
When I come back I will have some fabulous show and tell from my applique group to show you all.

Cleaning Day!

Aren't you glad it is not "Friday." Aren't you glad we don't have to scrub floors either? When I was a child my parents owned a house that had some kind of tile floor that needed scrubbing. Guess who got to do the scrubbing? And as a child that floor seemed like a mile long. I used some kind of bar soap, the scrub brush, and water to get old wax off the tiles. When that was done my mom would put the liquid wax on the tile. It was beautiful afterward but I sure did not like it when my mom told me it was time to scrub those floors. (pattern from Embroidery Companion)

Butter pats, Scotch hands, butter paddles, beaters, clappers, and spades are some of the names for these wood paddles I found at a flea market. Some of you knew exactly what they were and that made my search easy after that. Here is what one of my readers said about using the paddles:Cut a cube of butter - put it between the paddles and move the paddles in such a way as to make a ball out of the butter, the same way you would make a meatball between the palms of your hands.
I found an interesting web site that has more information if you would like to check it out. It is called Old and Interesting. It has the history of domestic paraphernalia. I think it is fascinating.

After I found out what the paddles were for and how old they could be I wasn't so sure I wanted to mount anything on them but Debbie of Woolen Sails has a suggestion that you might like to try too.
Use cotton fabric on the back of your punched piece for a backing and then get double side rug tape. You can stick it on and have fun displaying it, but take it off if you want to do something else with the paddles. She said that she learned the hard way not to put the tape onto the punched piece without a back, it pulls the loops out.

I am still learning something new every day. Thanks for helping me with the paddles. Thanks to a reader for the information on how to use the paddles. Thanks to Debbie for her great suggestion.
