It's here! The Bowls With Borders Blog Hop! I am so excited about seeing all the blogs that are participating in this hop. It is going to be so fun to hop around and see all the different bowls. You can go to Carol's blog to see the whole list of bloggers.

 Would you like to see my bowls?  Fiesta Dinnerware that was introduced  for retail sales in 1936 was my inspiration for my bowls.

 Unfortunately I do not own any Fiestaware but I do have some cute bowls filled with bell peppers from the garden.

 Oh, Look my little Fiestaware bowls are filled with bell peppers too.

 And here is my table runner all finished ready to decorate a table.

Paper Piecing

I have been working on some paper piecing projects which is very different for me. One of the guilds I am in has decided to make name tags for new members when they join our guild. I made one. The guild used to meet in a yellow house long before I ever became a member which was in 1999. Now we meet in a church fellowship hall. So the little yellow house represents the beginning of the guild. A new member will get this when they join. It will be fun to see someone else wearing it.

Are any of you building the teeny tiny paper pieced houses from scraps? The deal was to make one a day for the whole year. Well, the year is half over and I made four. I had good intentions but a girl can change her mind, right? Instead of a big quilt I will now have a mini quilt. If you have not seen any of the house quilts yet, you must take a look. It is amazing the quilts that have been made.

I have also been working on my bowls for Bowls with Borders blog hop. I am really excited about this hop. My day is coming up soon. August 13! Here is a sneak peek in black and white.

One girl's trash...

is another girl's treasure. I am a member of a Modern quilt guild. We had a zip lock bag scrap fabric exchange. You fill up a gallon bag with all the scraps you can. When I got home I opened up my bag to all kinds of fabric treasures. One of the things that was in it was a bunch of nine patch blocks already made. I made more 9 patch blocks with some of the matching scraps in the bag. Then I cut each nine patch block down the center horizontally and vertically to get the disappearing nine patch blocks. I sewed them in rows along with some cute yellow bubble fabric in between those rows to get this baby quilt.

There was also these squares cut out which I put together to make another baby quilt.

I made these to donate for preemie babies in our hospital. The other guild I am in does this as their charity project. The guild donates the batting to those who make the quilts. This coming Monday I will get some batting, layer them and practice my free motion quilting. I even have the binding made.

The guild also makes nap blankets to donate to school children. They are just made using two yards of fabric, front and back. So I made four of those so that four little children will have something to lay on when they take their nap.

I was thrilled when I saw those scraps that would make some cute preemie quilts.
You just never know what you will find in someone else scrap bag!

Summertime!

I love summertime when it comes to fresh local fruits and veggies. I don't have a whole to eat in my garden at this time. But I can visit our local farmer's markets to buy some really good stuff. Every summer I look forward to fresh peaches so I can make this peach pie. I make it several times when the peaches come in. It is my favorite pie.

 Summertime brings lots of thunder storms but unfortunately they have been missing our garden so we have to water by hand. Our rain barrels have been empty for weeks. The forecast is for 70% chance of rain today.  I hope the weather man is right and we get some of that rain.

 During summertime I have made three more granny square blocks.
