Soupcon block

I finally made some time to work on my Soupcon block. Karen H is sharing the steps on her blog. If you have a minute you should check out this post. There are some amazing and interesting blocks so far. Step #5 has been posted today. 

 Thanks for the recommendations for hand cream for my thumb. I am going to try to find one of the creams today. My thumb is on the mend so I was able to finish these two hexies that Karen H. shared several weeks ago. I think they are pretty neat.

Simply Small

Each month Sherri from a Quilting Life has been sharing small quilts that you make with your little Moda candy squares.  Sherri shared this pattern on her blog on the 10th of the month. Each time she shares the pattern is free but if you missed it you can 

 buy it on Craftsy.com. 

 Here is my simply small quilt from the pattern that was available this month. I used a pack of 2 1/2" squares from the Sonnet Collection by April Cornell for Moda.

I even did the free motion quilting myself.

I also made another mini quilt from instructions that Sherri gave last year for a small tumbler quilt. I used a pack of charms from Bunny Hill Designs called Ooh La La.

 I am far behind on my hand sewing because my right thumb gets cracked the end. Every winter it does it two or three times. It becomes very painful even to hold a needle.  It doesn't matter how much lotion I put on my hands. My thumb is finally healing where I was able to get these little quilts bound. Now onto other things that require my thumb.

Book Tour and Giveaway

Welcome to Day 4 of the Uncommonly Corduroy Book Tour 

I have been anxiously awaiting for Stephanie's new book to be published. It is called Uncommonly Corduroy.  If you click on the the blue title link you will be able to see lots of  beautiful photos of Stephanie's creations. 

For those of you who read my blog regularly you know that I am one of Stephanie's Supremes. I am one of several pattern testers for Stephanie. When she emailed me about writing a quilt book I was so excited for her. She asked if I would like to test a pattern for her. Of course I said yes. Here is a photo of Stephanie's original quilt called California Poppies.

Here is my version. As you can see from the photo this was taken during the spring last year. I call mine Carolina Lilies. I added some borders to my version because I wanted it to be a certain size. I did not use corduroy but I have seen some of the fun corduroy prints recently. I just have never thought about making quilts from corduroy.  I would definitely like to try sewing with it though.

My friend Laura did all this gorgeous machine quilting for me. You can see more of her designs on her blog.

I love this photo of the dots. The quilt has been washed so now you can really see the quilting here.

A Lovely Finish

My goal this month was to quilt and bind this preemie quilt that will be donated to one of our local hospitals. As you can see I reached my February goal.
