And after! Much nicer, don't you think? I bought this ironing board cover at Target. I guess I could make my own but it is so much easier to buy one.

These next three pictures are from one of the ladies in the applique bee. This picture isthe hand quilting on the quilt in the next picture. The back was just as much fun to see as the front.

Great cover, Carrie! And beautiful hand quilting - I'm always amazed at how much time goes into hand quilting a large quilt - I'm afraid my attention span isn't quite ready for that!

The ironing board cover looks great...any chance of a tutorial? Mine is just a towel held together with clothespins! I got so hung up over at Melissa's yesterday that I forgot to come back. Speaking of hand quilting, have you ever seen that woman called the Thimble Lady? Her thimbles are pricey but they probably work great. I saw her on Simply Quilts.
I came here from Stephanie's blog after having seen the needle turn applique. Amazing job! It is something I have never tried but might want to try someday. I admire your skill - it must have taken a few hours practising as well as talent - and I envy the possibility of your pupils to go to your class to learn it.
The applique here is super. I need to make an ironing board cover - NEED. Mine is an off size from Ikea. So I have no choice.

The Amish use black or dark thread for hand quilting.. which I think is so refreshing and wonderful to see.
