Day Three
Couldn't wait to wake up this morning and open the third gift from Stephanie. Look at this stylish new cup I can drink my tea from in the morning. Another bird. Stephanie knows me pretty well. Thanks for the third time. Having fun!!
Here is my version of the OP Challenge block. Look closely at the two center blocks. They are different and I used two of the birds from that fat quarter. If you look even closer a the blocks you will notice cut out birds and flowers. They are stuck on right now with Steam A Seam. I haven't ironed them on yet because I just wanted to see if anyone thinks I should move them to different places. I am planning to use the teal fabric for the borders and maybe a small orange border. I think I might use the triangles that were left over from the blocks in the border too. Love some input.

It's all about the birds today! :o) I really love how you cut out and placed the birds and flowers throughout the top. I say keep it as is.
Great gifts lucky you...Carrie just love your blocks..
i love it how it is BUT also think they would look good more random? just like your flowers and other birds are random? just my two cents...☺...i'm sure whatever you choose will be beautiful...
I think you are very lucky to have a friend who treats you so well. I also like the placment of the extra birds and flowers on your blocks. And the borders you mentioned will be the icing on the cake.....
Yes! I love how you made the birds and flowers appear 3 dimensional...the one with the leaf in it's mouth that appears to be hanging over the "bars". The sashing to me represents an ironwork gate or fence so any part or parts of the birds and/or flowers that overlaps it truly adds dimension. I LOVE that look! Now, if it were mine, I would try to carry that theme throughout. It would make it kind of peek-a-boo-ish and allow the eye to want to travel around the quilt looking for more surprises. Carrie, this is the artist in me talking and not the quilter. In that department, you know best.
Ooooh Stephanieeeeeee. Would you like another "best" friend? All kidding aside, the gifts are awesome.
Sorry about that...had to delete my comment because I am OC and there were too many typos, LOL!
Here's what I meant to write:
That's so cute! I had to click on the close up to see what you were referring to. I am all for the randomness in the quilt. I love the blocks but the two different ones in the center, in a row...not so much. I love the idea of the teal border and I think you can skip the orange border if you use the orange as a the binding. You could always use the extra blocks in your backing to make it extra special. Oh, the possibilities are just endless. Hope you find one that makes your heart happy, Brenda=)
Oh day three brings yest another great gift. Here is what I say about the quilt each of us wwould agree it is amazing, but, move a flowre here, put a bird there, I think it is perfect and you should get out the iron!! I love the border idea, it would really tie it all together and whay not add a bird to the upper right corner of the border. See, I just could not help myself!
Happy Birthday day 3!!! I also love your quilt just the way it is...beautiful!
I think the birds and flowers on your quilt are a great idea! I don't have a specific suggestion about tweaks, just that maybe you should fiddle with them a bit to see if something else looks better? I do like how they stray over the lines. Can't wait to see what you decide.
Carrie this quilt looks awesome! The cut out birds and flowers really add extra charm. I wouldn't change a thing. x
I love it! Orange would not have been my first choice and now I see what it can be. Good for you. Still jealous over your goodies from Stephanie! Happy Birthday week :)
The birds and flowers add an extra-ordinary touch! Go for it, just as it is!!
I love your OP blocks and the layout. The birds are so cute in it.
Love your OP quilt, Carrie.
Your blocks look great! I love the little birds sitting on the sashing and flying about the top. I think a pieced border of some type would look great as well. It's going to be a fun quilt. :)
Oh...don't you love the cup and tiny bird..I do...yes, and the ones
on your quilt as well. I just love
how you randomly placed the birds
and flowers...I think it is a good
design choice!!
Oh, Carrie I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your OP!! The colors are so nice! Great job!!
Love the blocks! Do you have a spare bird that can stray out onto the border? More is MORE, I always say, LOL! <3
