Here is just the top without the borders. This is a quilt made by other quilters. It is called a row robin. I sewed the second row (the flags) and then it was passed on to other ladies who added on a row. The top was made in 2007. So with this challenge it is time to finish it. I sewed the borders on and got the quilt back from a long arm machine quilter last week. I need to finish it by next Monday for the guild meeting.
Now I need to share a little history with you. Way back in August before I had my own blog, I was visiting lots other of blogs. I entered a giveaway on the Minick & Simpson blog and won a big spool of twill tape. I was very excited to be a winner but when I got it, I thought what in the world am I going to do with this? I set it on my shelf and would admire it but no ideas came to me. One day while reading the Minick & Simpson blog Laurie wrote a post about using it as binding on a quilt. Read here and here.
You guessed it! I am going to use the twill tape for my binding.
Laurie recommends washing it with a color catcher sheet which as you can see, I did. The binding is machine sewn on one side and now I am in the process of hand sewing the other side. It should be done in a couple of days and then I will show it with the borders and my twill tape binding.

Wonderful row robin and the twill tape for binding is an awesome idea.
I use a color catcher or dye magnet when I wash a quilt.

Aren't color catchers the best? That twill tape looks like it is going to make an awesome binding... that is such a great idea, too! The center of the row robin quilt looks wonderful... I can't wait to see it finished!!!

you did well with the row quilt. I took part in one of those and it just cannot be a quilt. It didn't turn out too good at all but we still had fun. Love the twill tape. It would be good on sewing pouches etc in some way.
