I wonder if spring is closer than I think. Today is going to be sunny and warm and the woods are full of singing birds. When I let the dog out this morning I could hear several male bluebirds up in the trees letting females know that we have a house in our backyard they can use to raise some babies. Last year we had three broods born. As you can see they are beautiful birds.At the guild meeting on Monday night number 6 was chosen from the UFO list. Here is mine. I know this is one of my first attempts at applique. I took a class, I think, in 2000-2001. I made all the blocks and one applique block. And then it laid in the pile with the other UFO's. Now I look at the applique block and I think "What was so hard?" I have come a long way.
I leave you with this picture. Remember I told you my husband and I went on a day trip last Saturday. We saw this hay bale snowman on our drive home through the countryside. He is really big!!

Fun snowman! Today is calm winds, dry, and a brilliant blue sky. All the snow has melted and I have heard some bird songs. Our first real sign of spring is when the crocuses and daffodils start popping up and the forsythia are in bloom. Can't wait.
Love the snowman, but I also feel spring in the air, not snow but rain, that is fine and I hear the birds outside, I know it is closer.

What a great haybale snowman. I heard lots of birds on my walk this morning...I was thinking spring might be closer than I thought out in this part of the country!
Okay you guys...enough talk about chirping birds, mating birds, crocuses, daffodils and spring in the air. Although it's raining here today, we still have tons of snow! Another month and a half of winter still to go up here. Aaaaah, to be living in Florida again.
So Carrie, what you're saying is just another 7 or 8 years of practice and we'll be as proficient as you? I can't wait! Seriously though, your work is absolutely beautiful and it must give you a tremendous amount of joy. Continue doing what you do so well and sharing as you do so unselfishly.

LOL! That snowman looks humongous! And I think (hope!) spring is definitely on its way. It's cold today, but the skies are happy and clear. A welcome change!
So with your UFOs, is the goal to finish it before the next meeting, or just to make some progress?
How I wish we had colorful bluebirds like that in our backyard! And great snowman - I wonder how long he will last with the livestock!!

Hi, I do believe that spring is here, at least I think that I am getting a bad case of spring fever! I am working on #6 and I know now why I put it away. It did not help that I used some of the fabric that I had not yet cut. I am glad to say I found what I needed Wednesday after Bee. This quilt is not applique instead it has a lot of flying geese! Then the instructions were wrong or I understood them wrong. I am now on the right track and should be able to start sewing blocks together tomorrow. I am having a ball but not working on my applique and I would really like to be. If only I were two people or had four hands!

Oh I love the sound of bluebirds singing. They live in the woods a little bit from here.. but we are too close to the street for them to come in our backyard. Do you put feed out for them?

What a fun snowman...hayman...That bluebird is so beautiful. We have male and female cardinals all around our house...looking for the perfect spot to build their home. I love it!
We have bluebirds in Idaho except not yet, we still hve 4 feet of snow!! I love that snowman, it made me smile! Thanks for sharing!
