While I was looking through the one with the Cathedral Window pattern on the cover, look what I came across. The pattern for that old double knit quilt. As you can see it has another name. I just thought that was too cool. All the magazine are full of templates like this one.
Who remembers Zorro? I used to love watching that show when I was a little girl. This quilt was my husband's when he was a child. Last time we visited his parents his mom gave us this quilt. Nothing fancy but my husband loved it as a young child.
Just some shirt buttons I found at an antique store. All white but there was one red button in the jar.

My husband was a fan of Zorro (I think he secretly still is). That is so cool that you found your quilt pattern in the magazine. It looks like it would be a fun one to try. Your sneak peek makes me very curious.

I loved Zorro when I was a kid as well. He really was my hero, along with the Lone Ranger.

Carrie, looks like you found a real treasure trove. I can tell you that the purple and green "Quilts" booklet is from the 50's. My MIL gave me a box of pre-cut fabrics and that book.
Gee, it is hard to believe that the 50's are not considered antique! Makes me feel so old.

I love your dish of buttons with the one, lonely red one. I wonder if my cat would leave something like that alone?!? Knowing my luck, he would cart them off and hide them, one by one, then I would find them with the vacuum cleaner. LOL
I can't wait until your "reveal" on your sneak peak...it seems to have it all!

Okay, I'm really trying to make heads or tails out of "sneak peak" this time. It appears, atleast on my computer, to be an orange button...but then again, what do I know? LOL
I have to admit, I'm liking this way of presenting a challenge.
Zorro fan waving here... When I was about five years old, I vividly remember being taken to a college football game. During half-time. ZORRO came riding out onto the football field on a black horse! I couldn't believe he came for that football game!
That Zorro quilt is so cool! How wonderful that it has survived all the years of love. :)
And, of course, another wonderful little peek! Is that some redwork peeking around the button? Can't wait!

Hi, I've got all of these mags and love them - probably at least 2 patterns in each book I'd like to make! Can tell you, dispite the lack of a lot of detail in instructions, the templates are very accurate!
Love the dish of buttons. It reminds me of Queen Anne's Lace, with the one colored flower (button) in the middle.

I have five of your six magazines - I'm missing the Bold and Beautiful Quilts. I love looking through them, and am very happy for the invention of the rotary cutter, all those templates are a little scary.
Carrie. I was lucky enough to find those same books..the quilt you posted I did my first "challenge" block and it was critict (sp) by the guild..it needed some polishing needless to say. I think I found it in the book 100 quilt blocks or something. I love those old pattern books and was so glad that I had found them too.. in a guild drop table...
Funny how that pattern dropped into your life so soon after your post. Is there a Star Flower in your future? Seems like a hand piece project, with those y-seams and curves.

I bought new copies of those 'magazines' at JoAnns in the early 80s but they called them books back then. They were in print for many years so it's hard to tell how old copies are.
Well you know me, anything vintage is always fun. That is such a good idea to have a "who wants it" table at quilt group.
