Here are some shots of my yard work. I would rather do yard work than house work when the weather is nice.
This is the other side. The grass just took over the flower beds. The Iris beds in the backyard look terrible. They will be next.
I noticed this garden spider and it's web when I went to rinse the clay off the tools.
Take a look at this monster. I was trimming some plants and felt stinging on my elbow. It was this mad looking caterpillar. It stung for a while.
Yesterday I went to a couple of our quilts shops. Several of them are holding a shop hop. I will not make it to all of them. I did buy a few pieces of fabric which are in the washing machine as I write. I also bought this sweet pattern.

It has been a lot of work. This weekend I will be out there again helping move limbs so that he can chip them into mulch. So still no sewing going on while I work with my husband. I will be working in the yard getting the other flower beds nice and neat before winter too. I enjoy the work but this fifty four year old body sure can tell it has been working hard.

Looks like a busy weekend for you but you are right, the weather is perfect! Dear Hubby and I will do a little yard work but I have to get ready for the show in West Jefferson next weekend. Love that little pattern........
Step by step post pics remind me of the devilled eggs you mentioned in a previous post. lol I love the way the stems cross in the centre.

Glad you got out in your yard today. The sewing can wait! We have to 'make hay while the sun shines!' Your yard looks great. Having a garden will be so much fun. Next year you'll be enjoying the fruits of your labor. What a beautiful caterpillar. It is called a Saddleback. My book says the sting of a Saddleback is the most potent of any N. American caterpillar! You were actually stung from the spines. It grows up to be a pretty plain, brown moth.
That is one nasty little caterpillar - noticed someone else posted about their stinging spines...not a friendly looking fellow.
I like your garden photos much better and the new quilt pattern is wonderful!!
We are enjoying perfect outdoor days and have been spending so much time in the gardens...rearranging, preparing for Fall and lots of harvesting!

Good for you to be taking in the nice weather. It's admirable that you would tackle such big garden projects. The difference is beautiful. Sorry about your nasty sting - bite, it sounds like. Hope it went away quickly. Continue to enjoy the outdoors. Winter will be upon us soon enough for lots of sewing time.
Your flowers look beautiful Carrie - too bad there has to be nasty bugs to bother you. I wasn't working, but had flies bothering me today - out in the middle of the lake when we were swimming!
Dang girl you have been working hard - looks great! I don't blame you for staying outside while the weather is good. Love your new pattern!

You've been busy and I'm with you...I'd rather work in the garden than do housework. What a wicked spider. I hope your arm is okay. I've never heard of a catapiller biting.

I hoping you've inspired me to get my own flowerbeds cleaned up. Same here--it's been WAYYYY to hot to be outside this summer. We've had relief, but back to 99 today, so I'm holed up inside trying to get rid of a late summer cold.
Love your flower beds and you've done a lot of work on them. Who knew doing flowers were so much work? I'm planning on pulling most of my irises this year. I'm wanted to get the variegated ones started. Most of mine are all solids. We're expecting our first frost Thurs. I really should get out there to get something done. Ware those gloves when moving your limbs, protect those hands girl!
Though I can't say as I'm a big fan of yardwork (I much prefer playing with my boys), I do love being outside! :) I've always admired those who have the patience and the skill to plan and create and grow gardens. It is such hard work and takes so much patience. You go, Carrie! :)
