This was a good weekend for me to catch up on some different things. One of them was my Free Motion Quilting challenge from
SewCalGal. The May tutorial was done by
Leah Day. If you haven't seen her blog you should check it out. She has some great video tutorials and quilting patterns that she has shared on her blog.
The first tutorial was called double stippling. I thought I would do it around last months free motion quilt design. First you start with a big wiggly line.
While I was stitching the line something was slowing down my stitching. Well my supreme slider started moving and I stitched through it. I didn't think it was that full of lint on the back but evidently it was. So I took it to the sink, washed the back off, and it stuck really good again. Lesson learned. Keep the back clean.
So back to stitching. As you can see I then did the stippling part of the design. I really like it.
Next was a design with straight lines. You start off with the big wiggly line again and then do the train track design. I will admit I like the curvy lines better.
I wonder what will the June challenge be?

Great idea to do it around last month's sample. Wish I had thought of that. Yours looks really good! I am always sewing over folds of my quilts and having to "unsew" them!
I really need to get started on the FMQ lessons and practice. Yours look great.
Great job! I worked on mine yesterday as well. I'll do more practice today.
If you save all of your practice pieces you can put together a whole cloth quilt as you go quilt! :o)

That straight-line version is cool-- makes me think of railroad tracks, which (of course) makes me think of my boys and then smile. I'm going to have to find an excuse to try that one out!
