I was not even sure this trip to Florida was going to happen because I had to report to jury duty on Monday. We had scheduled our first day of vacation on Tuesday because I am the president of our guild which met that Monday night. So at 8am I reported for jury duty. First thing in the morning the woman in charge called out a bunch of people from the group. There were about ten of us left. So we sat and sat. We went to lunch and sat some more. Finally at 4:30pm a jury was picked and I was let go. Yippee! I didn't have to postpone my vacation. I went home, got my stuff for guild, did my thing there, came home and packed. Whew! what a day.
Tuesday morning at 5am we hit the road. First state we passed through was South Carolina.(no photos)
Next state, Georgia. My turn to drive. If you look close along the horizon you can see Stone Mountain which is one of Georgia's famous sights to visit.
Check out the traffic! Always lots of traffic going through Atlanta.

Almost there. Finally came to the Florida state line.
About 12 hours later we arrived at my mom's house. Those 12 hours included a couple of stops to eat and stretch. It was so good to see my mom, it had been way to long. My dad had passed away from cancer 20 years ago and my mom has since remarried. He is a good guy.
Next morning Mr. P. and I got up to spend a day at the beach. My mom lives approximately 30-40 minutes from the beach. We decided to take the scenic route. The south is known for its moss covered trees. Here are photos of the bay.
We visited some antique stores while downtown. I love taking photos of old movie theaters.
After doing a little shopping we continued toward the beach. We have to cross the bay by this bridge. The original bridge was taken down several years ago. That old bridge was a little scary to cross.
The route has changed a little to make the traffic flow smoother but not quicker in the summer time. Then it is bumper to bumper traffic. That tall building did not used to be there either. To the right is the neighborhood I used to live in. Mr. P. lived there too and that is where we met. We went to high school together.

Glad you had such a nice trip. Florida is my home state, so I always love to see pictures from around this great state.
I love taking photos of old movie theaters as well. Love the Floridian colors. I've been through all of the states you mentioned except I've never been to Florida.

The only thing more fun than going to the beach is quilting at the beach...hope you brought some appliqué hand work :)

Looks like you are in not only in my state of Fl. but also in Martin county. Looks like Bridge road going over to Jupiter Island in Hobe Sound. Big bridge Looks like Roosevelt bridge in Stuart...Pt. St. Lucie area. Am I right????
oops...I think you said it was Panama City up in the pan handle of the state and I am in the Palm Beach area of south Fl.
Since I haven't been on a vacation so long, I'm delighted to share yours. Hope the weather was sunny and beautiful!
