It has been a while since I have shared my garden with you. We have had a very strange summer this year. Much more rain than last year and a bit cooler but certainly not less humid. Step outside and you just start sweating. When I work out in the garden, even in the morning, I come in sopping wet. Some vegetables have done well this year, others not so well.
One thing that I am really happy about is being able to water my garden with a hose. I don't have to carry up watering can after watering can to water the veggies. Yippee! I smiled the whole time I watered the first time with the hose.
And it is all because of this 1500 gallon water tank Mr. P. installed. Now he doesn't have to help water either. The tank collects rain water from our house for the garden. As you can see the bell peppers are doing great this year.
I planted some asparagus last year. It is doing pretty good. Maybe next year we can eat some of it.
Here are pumpkin vines.
Squash borer bugs got to the stems before I realized the damage they were doing. I dug the worms/caterpillars out and covered up the wounds with foil.
Here is a view from the back of the garden. That is a pumpkin vine that I planted later in the summer.
Another view further down. The watermelon grew well at the beginning of the summer and then just stopped. We have beans, sweet potatoes, tomatillos, and tomatoes. I only got 5 zuchinni before those plants died.
I have one bed dedicated to the pollinators. I love fresh cut flowers.
It has been another bad year for tomatoes. I have gotten some but they start rotting before they get ripe. The plants have been dying from the bottom and continue up the plant.
I just got some seeds in the mail the other day. I have planted some of those out in the garden. Some of the others in little starter pots.
With the few tomatoes I have gotten I have made homemade roasted tomato sauce.
The onions, garlic, green peppers and basil are all from my garden too.
Yum! Gardening is hard work. Sometimes you never know what is going to grow but for me it is fun. I love seeing all the veggies grow. If you are a gardener I hope you are having a good harvest.

I LOVED the photos of your garden!!! We've had such hot summers, that my gardens have really suffered, so I planted just a few things this year. We have harvested a little, but I have been able to keep the plants alive, so hope for fall tomatoes and peppers. Might try to plant some green beans and then some cool weather vegies a little later!

nothing beats home grown so all that work is so worth it. We turned over and weeded mum's numerous vegie beds on the weekend. It was hard work and luckily we didn't have heat to contend with!
Your garden is gorgeous, Carrie! So sorry some of your things haven't done well. We're always at Mother Nature's mercy for sure! Mr. P was so nice to install that wonderful rain barrel! How brave you were to dig out the squash bugs! My melons didn't even sprout and I only got a few zucchini as well, but the tomatoes are going wild!

I too have a love for growing vegetables. I grew pimentos for the first time, and definitely will grow them again. Great pepper crop and got 25 quarts of tomatoes from six plants. Still have some grape tomatoes for salads but the rest are done. A big bowl full on the kitchen counter that will turn into spaghetti sauce tommorrow. Wish I had a large garden like yours. Mine is just a kitchen garden but it does produce a lot!
Your garden is so well organized and doing not too badly considering your wet weather . I have just a small garden and have gotten some yellow beans , lettuce and tomatoes . I just voted for your daughter , hope she wins , her designs are lovely!
Gardening is so worth it! The taste is just fabulous! Your garden looks lovely. My blackberries just took off this year. I am enjoying some cherry tomatoes too
What an awesome garden!! The water tank is a great idea and it must be so nice to not have to use a watering can now. I love gardening as it's so satisfying to see the plants growing. Fresh fruit and veggies that I've grown myself taste so good and no pesticides :-)

With our move, this was my first year ever without some kind of veggie garden. I've missed it but really have enjoyed watching yours thru the seasons. Thank you for sharing with us!
It has been a strange gardening season here in the northwoods also. Tons of rain early on and and a late spring, cool July and now a dry stretch. Lots of tomatoes but green and it is always touch and go for that first frost in September. We still had ice on the lakes in late May.
Non stop green beans though & the apple trees are heavy this year.
Thank goodness quilting is always in season!

Your garden is fantastic! Our bell peppers are so tiny compared to yours but our growing season started kind of late this year.
A strange weather year indeed. My tomatoes are slow to grow and I should have an abundance but only some here and there. Your roasted tomato sauce looks tasty.
I am envious. My garden, all the rain, and horrendous storms that came through the past month actually broke all of my tomato cages, so my tomatoes kind of grow along the ground. I have lots, but they are small, I think because of all the rain. My zucchini and summer squash died too. Lovely flower garden. Everything here with the rain, etc. is so weedy. Maybe someday I will get caught up.
WOW! You have a great garden. Fresh produce for your own garden tastes so much better than anything store bought I think.
