This is the newest block of the El's Kitchen BOM I am doing from one of my local quilt shops. This block made me a little nervous because I haven't ever done anything like this before. Not to shabby, if I say so myself.
Just had to share this photo of my grandson enjoying a book.
I also wanted to say that if you wanted to try to machine applique real wool you might want to put iron-on adhesive on the back of the wool. Iron it to your background and then machine applique it down. I think the iron-on would keep the wool from slipping around as you try to sew the edges. I haven't tried this yet, just a thought.

What an adorable grandie! You did a fantastic job on that block! I have the book and fabric, but haven't started El's kitchen yet. I hope I get laid off my job soon, so I have some time to play!!
That is beautiful piecing, I cannot get my lines that straight, lol. Your grandson is so cute and he looks so serious with his book.

I love your BOM block! It looks perfect :0)
What a perfect looking block. It looks difficult and it turned out well. Cute picture. Our little here loves his books too!
I love your kitchen block, it does look like a tricky one, and your Grandson is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing the link, Bonnie's work is lovely and I'm keen to try out that way of doing the HSTs!
Love the block it is gorgeous and it looks very difficult. The grand is a cutie and love the picture of him reading.
That is one darling grandson... and beyond good looks, he likes books! Just what we old grannies love.
Hugs
Your Grandlittle is starting out right - books are such a treasure!
Love your block - you did a wonderful job piecing.
Agree with your technique of stabilizing the woolie or wools. Have not worked with it for a long tome but i
Seems like it would really help to keep the edges in check as you do an applique stitch.
Have a great weekend.
Wonderful piecing and a great block . Your grandson is just precious , he sure seems interested in his book:-)
I'm quite jealous of your perfect points!
The explanation of the flannel was very good, and sy "howdy" to the grandie!
Your piecing is perfect! Your grandson is getting a great start reading Bible stories! He looks like he is really enjoying it.
I don't know which is more perfect, your block or your grandbaby! Congratulations on both of them!
What a happy grandma you are! He's adorable and so smart. I love your BOM. It reminds me of some of the Dear Jane triangles. You did a great job.
Goodness, that does looks like a tricky block! Cute photo of your grandchild, very serious face!
I'm happy for you to have a sweet grandson to enjoy, Carrie. How lucky that you live in the same town. I get to see mine primarily on FaceTime. Damien looks quite precious... and is already reading. Now that's impressive!
Block and baby are both lovely! I saw an antique quilt made entirely of this block with sashing between each block and it was very effective. Your block is stunning! Is it hand pieced?
perfect points, Carrie! You are a natural. The baby is so adorable and he really looks as though he's reading!
Cheers!
He is too cute! Interesting block:)
Your El's Kitchen block is really pretty but it would scare me. I've never seen anything like it. Congratulations!
Your sweet grand baby is too cute and has great taste in books ;)
That's an awesome block that looks rather challenging! What a great photo of your grandson :-)
How cute is your Grandson? Never too young to enjoy a story. The blocks not shabby at all - well done x

Yay for early readers! :) He's a cutie. That block you finished looks amazing-- that's some tricky piecing there.
That block is incredible!! I can't say when I've seen such an adorable picture! That's framable. He's a cutie, for sure. Love seeing him with a real book!
