Well, my routine has been changed again. I am watching my grandson 5 days a week again. The girl that was watching him 2 days got a job. I am not complaining but watching him doesn't leave much time to sew during the week. So I guess my routine will include sewing on the weekends. He is taking a nap at the moment. Usually when he is taking a nap I am taking care of household duties which I should be doing. But I thought I would share what I got to sew this Sunday.
Now I am going to go through my email. Don't have much time to do that or look at blogs either. We all go through different seasons in our lives and this is a new one for me.

It is hard watching our grandkids and finding times for ourselves. I love doing it but I also realized I am too old and not up to going all day to keep up with him, lol. I get more done during the week since my husband and daughter are home on weekends and the pup doesn't behave as well, so it is usually chaos around here;)

Yaaaay? I am also with mixed emotions on this one. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my granddaughter but, my goodness I don't remember it being this exhausting the first time around. And I had FOUR plus worked full-time! When he gets a little older, you can find time to do handwork while he entertains himself. That's where I am right now. She can color for 30 minutes without a peep and I can do a little wool work!
Beautiful applique Carrie! We all have our seasons, mine is looking after a parent. We do what we can. Good to keep quilting when we have 'our' time!
I used to watch my grandsons all the time and I never had much time, then they got older and one started school and I had more time to myself. They grow up ever so fast. Your applique is fabulous though.
A lovely block and fun to get a glimpse of what Eleanor's book looks like. I made a tablerunner from one of her earlier books and still remember her excellent instructions. So true about new phases in ones life..dealing with all the issues connected with my folks has really impacted my own life...
It's stressful to babysit 5 days a week! But you are smart to get the appliqués prepped.

Oh yes seasons in life they do change, seems family comes first. Lovely blocks and it is progress.
I have done this too Carrie and although it is wonderful to have them around it is tiring and definitely cuts into creative time but they are small for such a short time so enjoy ! Your work is looking great .
You're in a busy season right now Carrie - I'm not sure I'd have the energy to take care of a little one! Kudos to you! Really love that Eleanor block.

Taking care of grandchildren makes you wonder how we ever took care of our kids and got things done!
Your post is a good reminder of how life ebbs and flows Carrie. You will be prioritizing your creative projects for now but when your commitments change you will be ready to stitch like the wind! Your family is lucky to have you nearby.
boy full time babysitting will definitely eat into sewing time.
It's also a lovely experience, and he will be looked after by someone who loves him a lot.

I say skip the housework and do some sewing while the little one sleeps!
I do 4 grandkids more or less full time, and I just turned 69. It is frustrating to give up all that sewing time, but I have a forever bond with them. Sometime I think about the challenges when I am stuffing them into car seats with coats, hats, mittens, and the temperature is below 0. Or when I am just watching them play, and unfinished quilts are swimming in my head. But I am blessed, and so are you, Carrie.
