Short and Sweet

This entry is short and sweet. Short because this all I have to show you today and sweet just because these designs from Willowberry Designs  are so cute.  Another reason it is sweet is that I had my daughter draw an outline of our Schnauzer.  I stitched her instead of the cat that was originally in the design only because I don't have a cat at this time.  I am sure the original cat was waiting for a bird to fly to the bed n' breakfast but let's pretend that Cindi is there taking time to smell the flowers. Miscellaneous

Today I have some random things to share. Since I have finished my tea swap projects I have been catching up on the different stitchery blocks and the Tisket, A Tasket blocks. I have also been working on a donation quilt for my guild.  We are going to be hosting a quilt show next year. 

So here is my randomness. As most of you know that read on a regular basis, I like watching and feeding the birds.  Yesterday, while I was in another room I heard a thump. I thought it was my dog at the sliding glass door. I went to see what it was and there was this chickadee sitting on the patio, dazed. It sat there about five minutes and then flew off.  A couple of days ago a dove hit the window upstairs in my sewing room. It was not so lucky.
I completed the joy block from the Christmas Love BOM.  These are all three so far. 
Yesterday was the $5 BOM meeting with the red, black, and white fabrics.  We always have show and tell.  The room is very small so I apologize for the heads in the picture. Don't adjust your screen and your eyes are not going bad.  This quilt is supposed to look like this.  



I am off to my quilting bee.  I will be working on the donation guild quilt while I am there.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!I finished my calendar quilt. I found this clover fabric in my stash and I used it for today's strip on the calendar quilt.  The embroidery comes from Ellie's Quiltplace.  Click on the button on my side bar if you would like to do them too.

More About the Tea Swap

Remember the pillow I sent to Darlene?  I made one for Stephanie as a thank you for hosting the Tea Time swap.  I know she likes green. I tried to use  the same colors from her banner. Here is the version I made for her.  The tea cup and saucer are also different than Darlene's.

And speaking of Darlene, I wanted to show you the table topper being used at my round table. My husband walked by and said, "Oh, that is pretty." Don't you love it when your husband notices something different.  He saw all the things that Darlene had sent and said they were nice but it nice when he notices a change.  I love sitting at this table when the weather is nice so I can open up the sliding glass door.  I can watch the birds flying back and forth from the feeders to the big Hemlock tree, gaze at the Carolina blue sky, and see the changes in the woods as the leaves begin to sprout in the springtime. 

I thought the box that my tea pot and cup came in was pretty and I was trying to figure out how I could reuse it.  I had a bunch of thread sitting on my bookshelf  because my thread box is full. 

Now my thread has a home.

Tomorrow is the $5 BOM and I just finished mine this weekend.  I don't really like to wait so long to get them made but things just kept coming up but I am ready to receive the next two.

Here they are finished.  I really love the fabrics being used in the black and white blocks.

I am changing the background fabric in the red blocks.  I am using muslin instead of white on white. I have this piece of redwork that I did several years ago and I am going to come up with some way to use these red blocks and the stitchery in a quilt. I haven't really come up with anything yet. Maybe draw some more stitchery blocks to go in the quilt. I will have to study them awhile until my brain comes up with an idea.

More Tea Swap

The Tea Swap is in full swing.  Ladies are receiving their packages left and right. As you know I posted mine yesterday and so did Darlene.  Thanks again Darlene.  This is what I sent Darlene. I a saw pillow pattern similar to this in the Quiltmaker magazine but I changed the center stitchery because it had a vase full of flowers.  It was very cute but I wanted something to reflect the tea theme thus the cup and saucer.

Here is what was in it. I think you might have figured out that Darlene's favorite colors are red and blue. 
This was my first time participating in a swap since I started blogging. It has been fun to read the other blogs and see the sneak peeks and then to see the reveals.  Stephanie has been a great hostess.  She got the information out promptly, kept us updated, and sent out reminders that the time was getting close to send out our package. If you go to Stephanie's blog you will see the list of names, click on them and see what all the other ladies have received.  From what I am seeing the ladies in this swap are very, very talented.  A big hug and thank you go out to Stephanie for being the hostess with the mostess!!

This past Monday night was my guild meeting.  Number 3 UFO was chosen.    Click here, scroll down to the end of the entry and you will see a quilt I have made.  Well, UFO 3 is the same quilt just in a different colorway.  I am not going to show you the quilt until it is finished.  I am taking it to a longarm quilter next week.  Here are few pictures from show and tell at the guild.  These first two pictures were made by the same person.
