I have finally finished all the embroidery blocks from Jenny's Shabby Roses pattern. I am busy cutting out the sashings and hope to start sewing today.
I have cut out the pieces for the next block from Linen Closets Quilts blog. I better get a move on because the next block will be out soon.
I found some bias already made for the stems on this roll I keep left overs on. Pretty convenient. I never throw any bias away. You never know when you might need some.

Junior Bridesmaids

My future DL had her birthday several weeks ago and guess what she asked me to make for the junior bridesmaids? These book keepers. Hers is the one with two cherries appliqued on the front that I made for her birthday. I can't believe I forgot to take a picture so this is one from my son's phone.
I also made a her a lavender sachet with the leftover strings. She didn't know what a sachet was so I explained to her what it was used for and so I am making some of those for the junior bridesmaids too. I am waiting to stuff them with the lavender and fiberfill until the wedding gets closer.
Next I will be making sewing caddys for the four bridesmaids. You can see the one I made for my future DIL here. I have the fabrics and will be working on them soon.

Gloria G. asked how I did the applique on the last post. I used the starch method on the flower petals and circles. I needle turned the rest of the applique.

Old is New Again!

Cockscomb and Currants. Grapes and Oakleaf. No matter what you call it, these are very old blocks. From the 1800's.

I own this book and I have wanted to do this pattern for a while. I wanted to make this old pattern with the new fabrics that are available instead of the red and green that was so popular a long time ago.



Here it is. Old is New Again! You have seen little bits of it while I have been working on it. The top is finished and I am happy with the makeover.
When the quilt is finished it will hang in Karen Gray's quilt shop. She sells lots and lots of these bright and cheerful fabrics. She just celebrated her one year anniversary. I went to the celebration and she was having little make it/take it projects that you could pick to do. I chose to do this cute little pincushion.

Easter Is On Its Way!

Yes, Easter is on its way and I finished a UFO just in time. I only had the eggs in the basket and some flowers to finish embroidering. But now I can say one more UFO done, how many more to go? Whose counting?!!
Look what the Easter Bunny left in my mail box! He brought a box from Candace which had this cute little fabric bag full of chocolate and taffy which were the colors of dyed Easter eggs. So yummy! She also sent a little pad with my initial on it and a sweet card. Thank you Candace and Happy Easter!
