Gardening and Book-A-Round

Harrington and Hannah are enjoying their flower garden.

I am enjoying my vegetable garden. Here is some of my harvest. Look at those carrots which went into a fresh salad. They are so sweet and I don't need to peel them. Now I know why I hear about so many people starting their own gardens. It is so neat to be able to walk out to your backyard and get some fresh vegetables to eat for dinner.

 I took those zucchini and added them to these other vegetables I bought at the farmers market last weekend. Look at that purple cauliflower. It makes the dish so colorful and yummy. I sauteed these vegetables with some olive oil and served over angel whole wheat pasta. So simple and good.

Drudgery and Fun

I will admit that one of the things about quilting I do not like to do is the borders. The borders are finally on my Hop To It quilt and I will be delivering it to a long arm quilter soon. I will show you the whole quilt when it is finished. For now the drudgery is over and you can see the mitered borders. I just love that floral fabric.

Another Month Flies By

Can you believe it is June already? I really have not done a whole lot for the month of May but I did finish up some BOM. This one is from Clover and Violet. Quick and easy.

 I finally got to the embroidery part of this H&H BOM.

 I played bingo during the month of May. I did get a bingo but someone got one before me. I kept playing  trying to get a blackout but as you can see I didn't do that either but it was fun.

 So as words were called I sewed on my black vintage buttons. Check out the one in the middle. It looks like a tiny bowl. I really can't imagine putting that on a piece of clothing.

 I did get around to harvesting the garlic. I also bought a canning pot and all the essentials so I can be ready when veggies are ready to pick.

 I had to show you these beautiful Bluebird eggs. This is the second time this spring a pair of bluebirds have used the house. That is going to be one crowded nest when those babies hatch and start growing.

 If you look close for the brown spot in the Myrtle tree you will notice another Cardinal nest. There were babies chirping up in it.

 The mom and dad birds were not happy I was there. So I got the dad's picture and left.

 This past Saturday my husband and I took a day off from working around the garden and the house. We visited three farmer's markets and drove to a old working grain mill.  It was perfect weather and we enjoyed every relaxing minute.

 Here is the inside.

 Outside was a stone used for grinding at one time and in the center was a female Cardinal.

One more Pillow Cover

It is that time again. Christmas through the year which is hosted by Darlene and Cheryl. Here is the next pillow cover for my son and DIL. I found this pattern here if you would like to make your own.

I used this variegated thread that Candace sent to me for my birthday. It sure does look pretty on that brown fabric. I also attached some vintage buttons. Cute! I think.
