When I got married thirty-eight years ago my mother-in-law gave me a gold stand up mixer. I think it was a kitchen-aid brand. The reason I don't remember the brand was because around my ten year anniversary the thing caught on fire. I have never owned a stand-up mixer since then. But I think it is about time to buy myself one after all these years of using a hand held mixer. I decided in memory of my first mixer I would do this mixer in gold. This pattern is from Quiet Play.
The U-Pick blueberry farm opened up yesterday. Mr. P. and I did our annual picking of blue berries. Together we picked thirty two pounds. Most went in the freezer. This year is a good year. Big and super sweet berries. Look at the size of those berries. I mixed up my first batch of blueberry scones. They turned out to be very good.I am in the market for a new refrigerator. I want one with the freezer on the bottom. If anyone has any recommendations or just any comment about what you like or don't like about certain brands I would appreciate it. Thanks.
With Passion,
Carrie P.

That is a fun block and fun to make memory blocks.
I was going to get a bottom freezer, then I saw a side by side that actually fit in our kitchen, not a good idea. Not as much space as a regular refrigerator unless you have the room for a big one.

I wanted a stand mixer for years. I finally treated myself to a Kitchen-Aid and have never regretted it. It is heavy though. I have had it 19 years now.
I can't live without my stand mixer, Carrie. It gets so much use that I decided it deserved to be on the counter all the time instead of the toaster! We bought an LG freezer on the bottom fridge with two doors on the fridge part up top. It's absolutely fabulous. Two other of our friends have gotten the same fridge since and also love it.
Cheers!
Love your mixer block! Those blueberries look absolutely wonderful and your scones absolutely scrumptious!! We got a Maytag side-by-side about 12 years ago, I have been very happy with it. We got the side-by-side for the ice maker. This year I finally got a freezer, I have wanted one for along time. I hope you find a frig you like!
My Mother had a Sunbeam mixer which looked like this. It came with a recipe book--our family still uses the cookbook!
I love that block and have wanted to make one for a lonnnng time. I have a white KitchenAid stand up mixer and use it quite frequently but still use my hand held a lot too.
The blueberry scones look amazing...I could go for one with a big glass of milk right now!
Too cute! And you'll love a fridge with the freezer on the bottom. So much better that way:)
Blueberry scones look delicious. I have always wanted a freezer on bottom..
Great mixer. Wish we had blueberries to pick here - num! I don't have a freezer on bottom fridge, but my son does. Only comment is that I can't see or reach things on top shelf!
I haven't picked blueberries in years! I miss them. The mixer looks great. Hubby and I are nearly 28 years ; )
Your mixer block are very beautiful Carrie! I have a Kenwood Major and I can't live without my stand mixer!
Hugs

Cute block! I'd love to have a stand mixer. Would make all the difference in the world in my kitchen! The blueberries look mmmm-mmmmm-goooood! I don't mean to hurry time along, but I can't wait until they are ready to pick up here!
oh my! those scones look delicious!!! If only we could have a toile' mixer :)
Cute block!
We did a kitchen facelift last year and I needed a counter-depth white frig. (Not a fan of stainless steel) so choices were few. We have a kitchen-aid, french doors, freezer on bottom. LOVE it! The frig holds a ton, and you can load up the deli drawer with all kinds of food! Everything us at eye level. I think the counter depth friges are taller because they aren't as deep.
You are going to have such a sweet quilt when done. I love the memory attached to your mixer block. I also love blueberries. The scones look delish. Any chance you could share the recipe.... Hugs
Oh the blueberries look yummy. I have a whirlpool french door refrigerator with a middle crisper drawer, and a freezer on the bottom. Also with ice and water in the door. I love it!
Hi Carrie, I have an LG fridge that is a 25 cu ft one..I love it. It has a smooth white finish on the doors so its easy to keep clean. Its the french door one with the freezer drawer on the bottom that pulls out. It also has an upper basket within the same drawer that pulls out.
The best part is the 3 drawers inside the fridge..2 crispers and a meat and cheese drawer below them. It has an automatic ice maker in the freezer that I thought I would hate but ended up loving.
I also love my Kitchenaid stand mixer. Its the breast cancer pink one from a few years ago.
Sorry to be so long, but would you share the recipe for the scones? Thanks. I love your blog..
lOVE THE BLOCKS BUT THOSE BLUEBERRIES ARE THE MOST TEMPTING THING EVER.
Those scones and the bowl of blueberries look so scrumptious! I like the mixer block and think that a cover for your new stand mixer from the block would be a great combination.
Your mixer looks terrific!
Is it wrong that I just licked my computer screen trying to taste those scones?! hee, hee, hee. Oh my do they look delicious. I want one with a cup of coffee.
Yumm-o!!!! Fresh blueberry scones are THE BEST! I think I need to make some, stat. Blueberries aren't quite in season here yet though. Almost!
My husband's grandparents bought us a KitchenAid mixer for us when we got married. It is the best thing ever! (No fires here, thank goodness!) It sits with pride on my countertop (even though it matches nothing). :P
Good luck on the fridge hunt!
