Longing For Spring?

Are you longing for Spring!? I think those of us who live where it is cold during wintertime start longing for spring about this time. My applique bee met and it looks like they are longing for spring too.

My #2 son and daughter-in-law gave me these Hyacinths for my birthday in February. The scent fills up the whole room.
Yesterday while I was out I bought some Heritage raspberries to put in the garden sometime soon when the weather gets a little warmer.
I have appliqued two flowers on my UFO project.
Yes, Spring is in the air!

March Giveaway

So this month two lucky winners could win a giveaway. The first one is for someone living in the US. You have a chance of winning thirteen 10" squares that I did not use in Mr. P's birthday quilt. You will also get a 1 1/4 yards of green floral fabric, two patterns (the ones I am working on this month), a skein of embroidery floss, green and white vintage buttons and a vintage wooden spool with green thread still on it.
For those of you who live in a different country you have a chance of winning this super sweet little sewing companion made and generously donated by KaHolly. Inside you will find a pair of scissors, a seam ripper, a charm for a necklace/bracelet and a needle keeper. I am also adding two skeins of embroidery floss. Thanks so much KaHolly for adding to my UFO giveaway.

If you would like a chance to win one of these giveaways be sure to link up your March UFOs here. Remember to list your goal for your UFOs on your blog post. If you finish at least one of your goals and link up at the end of the month your name will be in the draw for one of these gifts. You have until March 4 to link up.

My March UFOs and giveaway Winner

March is here and it is time to get started on some new UFOs. I have picked my three! I decided to go with a green theme this month because of St. Patrick's Day. My first UFO has been sitting around two years. I finished the embroidery pattern by Kathy Schmitz. I don't have any decorations for St. Patrick's Day so I thought I would make a little quilt for my wire table top hanger. A lovely friend sent me some fat quarters when I mentioned I did not have any St. Patrick's day fabric. Thanks friend!
I pulled out this wool applique pattern to work on during the month.
I have these leftover rectangles from a signature quilt I made for my #2 son when he got married. Our guild makes preemie quilts for our local hospital. My plan is to finish the whole quilt. This quilt will be for a tiny baby boy. I am linking this one up to A Lovely Year of Finishes.
Wow! you all are doing great on your UFOs. I having been checking up on every one who links up at the beginning of the month. I see you are as excited as me to be getting some quilts finished. So let's see who won the giveaway for this month. I put all the names in a bowl this time and my daughter drew out Colleen's name of Lucky Duck Dreams. She is a sewing phenom! Congratulations Colleen on all your finishes and for winning the giveaway.
So now it is time to link up your UFOs for this month. You will have until March 4th. If you are new to how this all works you can read the guidelines here.

Mr. P. was surprised with his quilt I made for his birthday. I handed him the quilt and said "Don't you need a warm quilt for this chilly night?" He read the label and got a big smile on his face because he remembered helping with the sashing. Needless to say he loves it and he really like the wood looking flannel backing.

ps. If you link up this month be sure to tell me where you live in the comment box, USA or another country because this month I am having two giveaways which you can see tomorrow.

February Finishes

I am really feeling good about the UFOs I have finished this month. This setting of goals and being accountable to you, my fellow bloggers, has really kept me focused. I finished Mr. P's quilt in time for his birthday which is today, the table runner, the punchneedle bird, a crochet cowl and pillow for my daughter-in-law's birthday.
Lori of Bee in My Bonnet also added two more rows to the the row along quilt this month which I was able to make. I just love those basket blocks.
I finished the "D" of the monogram Mondays from Jenny of Elefantz.
I crocheted my first dishcloth. I love the cotton variegated yarn. This was not on my UFO list.
I got a little more hand quilting done. I will admit that doing it is pretty boring to me. I think I am going to set a goal of so many blocks a day next month. Maybe I will get it done sooner!
Today is the last day to link up your finished UFOs here. Tomorrow I will announce the winner of the giveaway and show you what I will be working on in March.

A Gift

This past Sunday was my birthday and Mary of Quilt Hollow sent me the sweetest little quilt. A while back she asked my favorite colors. I told her brown and green but I do love pink too. I know brown is not a very pretty color but she sure made it look good in this quilt. I just love earth tones.
I just love it. If you look close you can see her quilting too.
I put it on my kitchen table along with this candle holder that I have not put away from Christmas. Brown and green, a very nice combination to me.
Mary sent this pin cushion at Christmas time. So sweet. Thanks so much Mary. I will cherish this quilt and pin cushion.
I have to share something pretty cool too. I follow Mama T's blog. You have to go by and see her quilt that she has hanging in the National Quilt Museum in Paducah. It is amazing. Go by if you have a minute and give her a high five/congratulations.

Don't forget to link up your UFO finishes here. You have until the end of the 28th.
