Almost Over

This busy week is almost over. One more commitment today and that is to work at the quilt show this afternoon and help take down quilts. Since my dog got me up so early I thought I would go ahead and do a post. I am going to start at the beginning of my very busy week.
On Monday I attended a workshop that our guild was hosting. Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville.com was our teacher. If you go to her web site you can get lots of free patterns for scrap quilts including the string spiderweb block we made in the workshop. Check out her fun blog too.Here she is working very hard on getting that box of strips to right of the picture whittled down.

This block was fun to make to make. I love scrap quilts but the part I don't like is cutting out every different piece for every block. If you want something you don't really have to think about and you want to get rid of scraps, this was a great way to do it. Each section starts out with a triangle piece of newsprint paper. You glue or pin the center piece of fabric to the triangle and you just add different widths of fabric to each side of the center.  No cutting because we had permission from Bonnie to rip strips the width we wanted them. After the sections are made you tear out the paper which comes out very easily because you have shorten your stitch length. Then four sections are sewn together to make a block and no worries about matching points. So if you want a stress free day of sewing try this technique.

I started out with this pad of paper that I bought at the dollar store. Bonnie stated that you could use the pages of an old phone book because the ink will not come off as much with an old book. You want to use paper that will tear off easily.
Here are my two bags. I decided to go through my stash and find little bits that I had saved because I liked the fabric so much. Those are in the second bag.The stars on my blocks are going to be white/off white scraps.

Here is a picture of one not finished. You can see the paper triangles under the fabric strips. The next three pictures are of other ladies blocks. I made two and am working on some more so that I can get four together.

Comments Bounced Back

Well for those of you who had your comments bounced back a couple of days ago here is what my email provider said about those comments:

Full Week

Just a note to let you know that I have a very full week and do not know when I will be doing another post.  I am busy with a workshop, guild meeting, appointments, helping with the judging process of our quilt show this coming weekend and then I am working at the quilt show.

Also, wanted to let you know that some of your comments are being sent back to you from my email provider and I have sent them an email about the process so that maybe they can find the problem.

He Is Risen

The Burial of Jesus

This all happened on Friday, the day of preparation, the day before the Sabbath. As evening approached, an honored member of the high council, Joseph from Arimathea (who was waiting for the Kingdom of God to come), gathered his courage and went to Pilate to ask for Jesus' body. Pilate couldn't believe that Jesus was already dead, so he called for the Roman military officer in charge and asked him. The officer confirmed the fact, and Pilate told Joseph he could have the body. Joseph bought a long sheet of linen cloth, and taking Jesus' body down from the cross, he wrapped it in the cloth and laid it in a tomb that had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone in front of the entrance. Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph saw where Jesus' body was laid.

The Resurrection - Jesus Is Risen! (Mark chapter 16 )

The next evening, when the Sabbath ended, Mary Magdalene, Salome and Mary the mother of James went out and purchased burial spices to put on Jesus' body. Very early on Sunday morning, just at sunrise, they came to the tomb. On the way they were discussing who would roll the stone away from the entrance to the tomb. But when they arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone - a very large one - had already been rolled aside. So they entered the tomb, and there on the right sat a young man clothed in a white robe. The women were startled, but the angel said, "Do not be so surprised. You are looking for Jesus, the Nazarene, who was crucified. He isn't here! He has been raised from the dead! Look, this is where they laid His body. Now go and give this message to His disciples, including Peter: Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see Him there, just as He told you before He died!" The women fled from the tomb, trembling and bewildered, saying nothing to anyone because they were too frightened to talk.

It was early on Sunday morning when Jesus rose from the dead, and the first person who saw Him was Mary Magdalene, the woman from whom He had cast out seven demons. She went and found the disciples, who were grieving and weeping. But when she told them that Jesus was alive and she had seen Him, they didn't believe her.

Afterward He appeared to two who were walking from Jerusalem into the country, but they didn't recognize Him at first because He had changed His appearance. When they realized who He was, they rushed back to tell the others, but no one believed them.
Still later He appeared to the eleven disciples as they were eating together. He rebuked them for their unbelief - their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.

And then He told them,

"Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in My name, and they will speak new languages. They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won't hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick and heal them."

When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, He was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God's right hand. And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked with them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.

God loves you so much that He send His son Jesus Christ to die for your sins. After His resurrection and ascension into heaven, He sent His Spirit to live in our lives and empower us to live the abundant life. But we must personally ask Him into our lives to be our Lord and Savior. If you are sincere about asking Him into your life, why don't you pray the suggested prayer below:

Lord Jesus, I want to know You personally. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life to You and ask you to come in as my Savior and Lord. Take control of my life. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.  In Jesus name, Amen.

It Is All About Me!

Eileen and Nanette thought it would be fun to show off our Easter dresses so I thought I would participate. I don't have a lot of pictures of myself as a child but I found this one. It is a picture of a picture. Remember those so called magnetic photo albums?  After 25 years of being in album the picture is glued in there forever. 

I am seven or eight years old in the picture.  I am the one in the front middle with the big hair. What was my mom thinking?  My brother is to the left of me and the smallest girl to left of him is my sister. The other four kids are my cousins. The adults are my grandparents. I loved spending time with my grandparents and I especially loved it when we would go to their house. My grandma's house always smelled so good and sometimes memories come rushing back when I smell certain odors. My grandma was the one who taught me how to do embroidery. 
Lindsey at Five Healthy Hearts has tagged me and would like to know six things about me. Hence the title of the blog. 

1. I was born in California, moved with my family to Florida when I was sixteen, and met my husband in our junior year of high school and got married the year after we graduated high school. Because I am from California my husband loves to tell people he married a "California girl."  Remember the song by the Beach Boys, "I wish they all could be California girls!"  Well, he got one.  The funny thing is I never pictured myself as one of "those" girls. In my mind I categorize myself as a geek, dweeb, nerd, whatever you want to call them.  That is really me but I will let my husband have his fantasy girl. 

2. Maybe I could just call myself "Simple." That is the way I like things. I dress simply, my home is simple and comfortable. No lace or frills for me. I am just simple and down to earth.

3. I am so simple and down to earth that I love to pull weeds. Weird I know, maybe that is part of being a geek. It is soothing to me to be outside even if it is pulling weeds. And you know I love to play in the dirt and grow things.

4. Since I was a child I have had this dream to travel the whole United States of America in a camper. I have always wanted to have one of those stickers of the outline of the US on the side of my camper. As you travel through each state you visit you add a sticker to the outline. Some of you know what I am talking about if you like to camp. 

5. Something I did for sixteen years was home school my children. It was hard sometimes but I have no regrets. And you know what, they are pretty good contributing members of society if I say so myself. 

6. I am looking forward to being a grandma one day. 

That is enough about me now I am supposed to tag some other people. I know a lot of you have been blogging for a while and have probably been tagged so I am going to tag two, sort of new bloggers.
