I just had to show you this picture. We see these family of churches on our way to the mountains. It reminds us of the story of the Three Bears. Papa Church, Mama Church, and Baby Church.
The tree is up and decorated waiting for Santa to make his visit. I think I have all been pretty good kid this year.
I participated in Quick Christmas swap that Jenny was hosting. I finally got mine from Dolores who lives in Ontario, Canada. Can you believe it took 20 days to get to my house here in North Carolina? Well, Delores sent me a great package as you can see. Two very cute fat quarters, 2 buttons and some trim. Thanks so much Dolores. I forgot to take a picture of what I sent her.
Since it is Christmas time and it is a time of giving, how about a giveaway? You could get this book which I love and own one also. It is full of all kinds of projects. When I first got married we used the colored lights on our tree and our house but with the change in trends we went with the white lights. We have used them for years now. We don't put lights on our house anymore just because you can't see our house from the street.Now I am going to go read some blogs. Come back Friday to see who the winner is.

I think I've always used white lights for my holiday decorating.
White lights...ditched the colored ones many Christmas' ago. I have to tell you when we moved overseas back in 1989 we easily knew where the Americans lived because they were the only ones with the colored lights. There is also a huge difference in the area I live in now in comparison to when I fly to CA for holidays. Our neighborhood uses all white, red ribboned wreaths in all windows with candles lit. Nothing tacky....go to CA and I get such a flippin variety of lights, colors, sounds and those blow up things in yards that it isn't pretty at all. I don't know why some folks think more the better when sometimes simple and less is best. (at least in my eyes)
Both, my husband likes white lights and I like colored. I put on colored lights and then he thinks it needs brightening up so he puts a couple of strands of white too. Brillantly blinding!
We have white lights outside and tiny colored clear lights on the tree inside. Only house on our block that is decorated outside. Can't decide what color to paint the house. We haven't painted anything outside, but trim that needed touched up. We have lots of peaks and dormer windows, grey is calm and neutral, cocoa brown would make it look like a gingerbread house and red would make it a Christmas house year round (probably tooo much).
LOL those churches remind me of DH's hometown of Clyde NC. And how I grew horns at my own bridal shower at his mom's when she let slip I was Catholic, they all being good Southern Baptists lol.
As to the mailing, I've had things take almost two months to get between NC and ON
I like the picture of the 3 pretty churches. What a fun way to go get a tree - a lot more fun than dragging a box up from the basement! We put colored lights on our tree. I have small kids and they generally like lots of color.
White lights for many years now and sometimes I add the small white bubble lights which remind me of the old fashion bubble lights my Grandma had on her tree.
I love the mountains! Love the family of churches too. Colored lights at our house. Since I don't stitch please don't enter my name in the very generous giveaway. I just wanted to stop by.

Funny you should ask about colored lights and white lights because DD and I were just talking about this a couple days ago.
I had all blue lights when we first got married - and for several years. Then, for some unknown reason we went to colored lights and have been using them forever. But - when we puchase our next tree (yes, I use the "fake" one), I believe I might try all white lights.....coming out of the box for me....LOL

Love your give-away.....we used to use colored lights, but it was such a hassle to me to string them - I bought a pre-lit a couple of years ago, with white lights, and I just love it. No more untangling and the white lights seem calmer, to me. It feels very peaceful to sit in the darkened room, with just the tree lights on.

One tree has white lights and the other has blue. You can never have too many trees! Outside we like to use green lights.
I have never used lights, Carrie... because I have kept my Christmas decorations rather Colonial-ish. inside.

We use colored lights on our tree. Until this year, since they stopped working, we had white icicle light on our porch and colored lights along the roof. Now we have all colored lights outside and a white light star.
I am another one putting my hand up for white lights! When hubby and I were married, we spent our wedding night in a Christmas-themed room and there were white fairy lights everywhere, so I have kinda liked them best ever since ;)
My tree lights change from colored to white with a turn of the dial. Some days I feel like white, other days I want color. It's great!
Hi Carrie--what a sweet give away---love things by Hatched and Patched--I use both clear and colored lights--depending on the mood--this year I really wanted clear--but ended up using multi ones as that is what I had when I was ready to do the tree--but I will get me clear ones so that next year I will be prepared--and I have seem some trees now where they use both on the same tree and it is really pretty--so maybe that is what I will do next year!!!

I've been using the white lights for many years and last year dh put a set of colored lights over my white lights when I wasn't looking. Silly man. I plan to use the white lights again this year.
I too only use white but have used coloured many moons ago. The white works better when changing colour themes on the tree though I mostly stick to white, red and green decorations nowdays as I think it looks nicer.

I'm wondering about the churches and why there are three, maybe different denominations? I have white lights for our tree that fash either fast or slow in patterns depending on how you set them. What a fun giveaway, I know that book will be a winner.

Wow - a real tree is rare in Australian homes at Christmas, probably because it's mid summer and bushfire season, but oh how lovely it would be!
We use white lights because we only decorate the tree in red and white. :-)

Gorgeous view for picking a Christmas tree! And love the three churches too. I still use color lights on the tree and both the big and little lights. This year we will not put lights outside. We want to see how things are done in our new neck-of-the-woods.
We use both colored lights and white lights on our tree. Some of the kids like white and the others like colored so that is our compromise :o)

I'm still in shock that it is December now. Eeep! :) I doubt we'll pick up a tree for another couple of weeks (we tend to do it mid-December). We use multi-colored lights on our tree and a mix of colored and white outside. I just love lights... they're so sparkly! :)

I love to change the color of the lights on our house from year to year. We use the same strings, just change out the bulbs for a different look.
My daughter lives in Montreal and I live in WIsconsin. Sometimes our packages take a week, once after 6 weeks an advent package came back to me on the 23rd of Dec.

How wonderful, that you can actually go into the woods in search of your own Christmas tree. We use white lights.
We use both. The tree came with white lights but I add colored lights every year. Colored lights are so happy.
