Schnauzers

I know many of you have pets. Some of you have dogs, some have cats, and some have other kinds of animals. We have had cats. One time a long time ago we had four at a time. Now we have dogs. I think we will always have a dog in our house. They are such great companions. Our companions are Miniature Schnauzers. This is Charlotte who passed away two years ago. She was twelve years old. She was my buddy. If I was sewing binding on a quilt she would always come and lay on the part that would be laying on the floor. She was a lovable dog. She is missed.

Here is Cindi. She is twelve years old this year. She is quite different from Charlotte. She is not as lovable but still likes to be in the same room with me. She minds really well.
Last week I went to a store to check out all the decorations they have. This store has the most beautiful stuff. They change it all with each season. They have an upstairs that is full of Christmas ornaments. The Christmas section stays up all year. This store has thousands of ornaments made by Old World Christmas. I was checking out one tree that was full of dog ornaments and found this Schnauzer ornament. I was so excited because it was a Schnauzer with floppy ears. Most Schnauzer things have the dog with its ears cropped where they stand up straight. I think the floppy ears and the whiskers that a Schnauzer have make them such cute dogs.
I vote for a Miniature Schnauzer to move into the White House with the Obama girls. Schnauzers are hypoallergenic and they don't shed which I really like.

Of course I have to have some applique and here it is. Here is a book I own with some very cute patterns. In it a dog and cat quilt. I have not made this pattern but one day I will add the Schnauzer to a quilt. Don't you just love the purple version of a Schnauzer?

Check out Darcy Ashton's web site. She has some great animal applique books and she also has some free patterns.

Our dog is at the center of our family. Everyone loves him and he's a good dog. It is fun to have sweet pets. We have a few cats but we make them stay outside. The kids love all the pets.

I'm going to take a trip to a store that has tons of ornaments next week to see if I can pick up a few reproduction ornaments.

I'm sorry to hear you are in the same boat with me and our long lost treasures - sigh.

We had to put our beloved Pepper (mutt) to sleep a few years ago. Sad day. Great traveler...we got her in Japan. She moved to CA, OR, and OH. She had more frequent flyer miles than most people. We still have our 15 1/2 year old cat who was raised by our dog. He's awesome. He moved from CA, OR, to Ohio. I miss having a dog...perhaps one day we shall have another. I love seeing pets. Love your ornament.

Your schnauzer buddies are, and were, very cute! I found a black lab ornament for my son and daughter in law at that same store(!) last week; they'll love it!

Love your schnauzers...they both look sweet...it's so sad when you lose a pet...and it's also sad to watch them age. We have a black lab who thinks he is human...he's only 2 and is finally settling down!

Carrie, Schnauzers are so sweet! We have a friend who takes his (her name is Nora) fly fishing with him all over the state. They publish their antics in the local newspaper - it's always a treat to see what they're up to! Love the purple schnauzer! Cheers!

I love Schnauzers. We came pretty close to getting one too, but we went with a Toy Poodle. Like you, I don't know that we will ever be with out a pet in the house. Now we have a cat, dog and fish. We have had a hampster too, but gladly, that one is gone. Certainly not my favorite.
