This morning I thought I would go up to my sewing room to cut pieces for the next row from Lori's row along. I have all the pieces cut and will sew tomorrow.
Before I went upstairs I spotted an Eastern Towhee out the window which is a rare thing in my yard. I took a few photos but they didn't turn out well. You can see a better photos hereand hear it's song.
Good eye, Carrie!! I've only seen Eastern Towhees once, and that was a long time ago in my yard in Massachusetts!! So exciting. Are you keeping a 'yard list'? ~karen
I saw a blue jay in my front yard yesterday...they usually don't arrive till it warms up a little..they must feel like we do about the weather! I love house blocks!!!
Don't you just get excited when you look out and spot a new visitor! He looks like the spotted towhee's that visit my yard occasionally. When my granddaughter was little she called these 'potted ho-toyeds'..!
Your houses will be cute! I am lucky, Tohee's are at my feeders most days. My writing desk looks out into my mostly wooded back yard and several feeders are close (within 4-5 feet). Right under my window are hydrangeas, viburnum and butterfly bushes.... Brushy & most suited to the dear Towhee's. the males always remind me of little gentlemen, smartly dressed. Thanks ever so much for the great link. Although i keep field guides on my desk, this website will be a great resource. I noted the have information @ improving photography skills. BTW, I am sad to learn Wrights Bird Center is going out if business; we've shopped there for decades. Thanks for everything!
I think it's so cool how you know all these different birds. I would just say, "oh look, that's a really cool looking bird." Love your block too girlfriend. Hugs!

I just love this row by row and decided that these houses would make a wonderful border for another quilt that I am working on.
At first I thought it was a robin... that's just wrong in January....

Just read your blog...I spent today working on Row #10 houses too. This row by row is such great FUN! Birds are so fun to watch...
